Yesterday was Aalten-Ardooie, today Ardooie-Brussel...does anyone else think these look less like stages and more like encyclopedia headings?

My intro. Wouldn´t ruin my work (:

Today stage 2 of the eneco Tour. After some American firework yesterday of Farrar we´ve got….. another sprint stage. How surprising. It´s b+loddy hot here so don´t expect to much action although there is a strom coming up with windspeeds of 110km/h. I have no clue where that is or where they are riding but let´s hope for some wind and with E. Dekker in the car that will be a nice stage… No?

Dirk de Mol on the phone by Belgian

Left wrist is injured.
Kloden had no experience in the Belgium country. All the hills were new and he was here for the GC.
The Tour exhausted him so much that he surely would skip the Vuelta. So Vino stays first reserve.
They have 13 riders in the pre selection for the Vuelta.
Chris Horner and Zubeldia are their main riders. Navarro Hernandez also sure for the Vuelta.

by Frinking on Aug 20, 2009 8:35 AM EDT reply actions

None of them were ever on the list to start.

Kloden was one of the 13 pre-selected, and listed as a starter. Whether they decided today or two weeks ago that he wasn’t going to start, someone still has to move up from the reserves to take his place.

Chris Sutton info. Anyone have any?

Not too familiar with him, but he seems to be assuming the role of chaperone for Farrar. In his last two wins, Sutton has been the last man standing for Garmin.

by PopUp Rolen on Aug 20, 2009 9:38 AM EDT reply actions

Chris, still just 24.

Was with Cofidis before Garmin. Last year he won the Delta Tour. Not an awful sprinter in his own rights, but will be more the Renshaw type, always working for in his case, Farrar. Won Cholet-Pays in 2006.. In 2007 he won Stage 4 of Circuit Cylicste Sarthe. He was 4th at the Tour of Qatar last year. Came 2nd in the 2008 uci track world cup classics madison, partnered with Cam Meyer.

Best result this year was 2nd on Stage 7 of Tour of Poland. Seems like he could be a good guy for Farrar, but he’s still learning himself

B&A a bit jumpy today methinks

They’ve called the race over for the peloton about 4 times, and as early at 60k left with with a group with only a 40-second gap. Every time a break gets 20 seconds, they say they won’t be caught.

Very uncharacteristic for them.
