ENECO Tour Stage 3... LIVE!

Enecotour_1__mediumAnother nondescript stage, from the distant fan's perspective, and another probable sprint if Garmin can hold it together. Actually, they might get a little help from Quick Step, since the stage rolls through Tom Boonen's hometown of Mol. Will hometown pride overcome that nagging sensation that Boonen can't hang with Tyler Farrar in a sprint? Probably. Real action is over the weekend, but this should be fun.

O/T The Tour of Ireland starts today too.

I’d be happy to do a Helsy style ticker for it but I really can’t as I’m at work and couldn’t give it anything like my full attention, but I can try and update occasionally here unless anyone wants to do a separate thread? There should be tickers around but no live pictures as far as I can tell.

Please--no Ireland updates here!

Those of us in the States might want to watch it on Versus tonight.

Yes as a junior..

He can ride, as long as he hasn’t ridden for Ger for 2yrs, if he rode junior, 3yr if open. so if he doesn’t ride this year he is eligible to ride for Aust. The statement in the article is by the BDR fed, not the UCI..

The only good thing about him

is that he looks very good. Saw him up close a few years back at the finish in Copenhagen, and he is absolutely good looking. Too bad that he is not so good on the bike.

Matt Goss on the other hand is a very good bike rider and I hope that he stays on Saxo Bank.

by LittleOldLady on Aug 21, 2009 10:31 AM EDT up reply actions

He's not a bad sprinter

he just seems to lack those final % of stamina to get to the end of the bigger races intact. On a smaller team maybe he’s have more protection but Saxo almost always have better riders to protect.

by Jens on Aug 21, 2009 10:35 AM EDT up reply actions

Agree

but it is lacking those final % that is so disappointing.

by LittleOldLady on Aug 21, 2009 10:39 AM EDT up reply actions

He does fine in small races

but when the competition and terrain get tough, he cant even hold on. It bothers me that Riis sometimes seems to favor Haedo over Goss, despite the constant lack of results when doing so. Matt’s a keeper, JJ outta go back to the American peloton, it better suits him.
