Eneco Tour Stage 5 LIVE! (Amstel Edition)
via www.sport.
Another bumpy day in the low countries. 204 km from Roermond to Sittard-Geleen. Familiar country for spring-classics fans, todays stage has an Amstel Gold theme. Apart from featuring the two signature climbs of Hollands greatest race, Eyserbosweg and Cauberg, it's sure to run on the winding, narrow roads that make for a long hard day for those trying to contain a constantly attacking field.

Throughout the stage all I kept on thinking was: ‘don’t finish second, you can’t finish second again’.--Heinrich Haussler
my thoughts exactly!
"at the end of the day, it's only the tour de france."- bradley wiggins (and majope)
Having a little chat over at Plouay thread.
Love a nice bit of multi-tasking.
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
I think it's that Sunday effect! :/
I know i have to pop out a few times to do things i’d rather not.
"When he accelerates, he's like Superman emerging from the telephone booth!" La Gazzetta journo Paolo Condo talking about Edvald Boasson Hagen.
So nobody found it worth noticing 3 riders have an advanatgage of 17'35 with 127km to go?
Names are Mouris(VacansOleil), Deroo(Skill) and de Lis(Euskaltel)
Speaking for myself
It wasn’t so much about not noticing, as that my French wasn’t up to the task
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
I officially can't multi-task
I was thinking I was still in the Plouay thread.

And don’t worry I won’t provide spoilers, but there is a live ticker for the Tour of Ireland

Hi, everybody. Got the coffee on. The sun is out. And how is our own
little world-wide cycling fan community this fine day? :-) (Sorry, making fun of the innertube a wee bit.)
Coffee. Bagel.
Life is good.

EBH, Montfort, GVA VANSUMMEREN, Posthuma Langeveld Flecha Tjallingi van Goolen(?) +more in the breakaway
Well, I learn something new every day.
I never knew the Topsport Vlaanderen team was sponsored by the Flanders government to promote their top sport. I thought “Topsport” was just another name of a business sponsor.

It's just so nice to have the c.tv commentators on...
I’m just recently recovered from the P&P Show during the Tour coverage on VS, which I found barely tolerable compared to A&B&M.
And really, no one can I.D. a rider in the peloton like Anthony and Brian. It’s a gift.
EBH, Montfort, Rogers
GvA Vansummeren, VdB
Posthuma Langeveld Flecha,
Chavanel,
Bak,
Bakelants
van Goolen
Niballi
+more
Colombia: EBH, Montfort and Rogers
Silence: van Avermaet, Vansummeren and Van den Broeck
Rabobank: Posthuma, Langeveld and Flecha
Quick-Step: Chavanel
Saxo: Bak and van Goolen
Liquigas: Niballi
Astana: Morabito
Lampre: Gavazzi
Topsport: Bakelants
They say 15 leaders. This are 16 names. Dunno which one is the false one
I really want to spoil
because i’m following it, but don’t want to incur the wrath of the masses :)

Honestly
Tour of Ireland ticker is too good to replicate
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
You don't need to replicate the ticker--just go discuss what's going on to your heart's content.
While leaving the rest of us in blissful ignorance.

I understand how it works
Not interested in doing it. i’m no Helsy. Can’t keep up with three threads at once, plus most of you will watch it later. Maybe then you can tell me about it.
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
Ah, gotcha.
Sorry, can only go by what you post.

Would have done a thread but I only got in 10k before the end. Sowwy.

Noone's fault
Ticker was quite good. Just noone to ooh and aah with :)

don't do it :)

I won't. Know that delayed TV is important.

just beautiful racing.

Anyone watch the video interview of Michael Ball by Neil of ROAD Magazine?
He says that Rock Racing didn’t get invited to Tour of Missouri because he didn’t underwrite the race, among other things. Always controversial that guy. And he licks his lips a lot.

Hello all. Great ride today but needed water and food so badly!
It’s hot. And windy. There were hills. Gettng my head around what’s going on in three separate races is making my brain hurt….aaargh! Less than 10km to go in Ireland. Sorry for the lack of live thread; I was out. I won’t give away any spoilers ;-)

I prefer windy and hot, although for one stretch today the crosswind was brutal!

56 km to go in Eneco, 57 to go in Plouay.
Going to be tough if both finish at the same time.

Elsewhere, and for myself
I’d suspect a night on the ‘grog’. is it a result of wholesome activity, like riding?
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
38km to go
And looks like the boys are having fun playing in the crosswinds. Looks like the front group came back together though. (Peleton still 1:20 back)
well, not as exciting as a classic a day but...

A summer version?
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
Working okay for me.
I have CTV in Chrome and Plouay in Firefox—don’t know if having them in different browsers helps, but theoretically if one browser crashes the other will still be up.

.. and I'm also watching two programs on tv,
really difficult to keep up with everything ;-)
Trouble is that Plouay and Eneco are still only about 1 km apart
they’re likely to finish at almost the same time…

I'm with M&M: I'd love to see Flecha leap ahead, maybe soon,
and TT by himself to the finish! They are going to get caught soon, so … so….. so….
Did I just see him riding at the head of something?

Down to 24 secs.

I wondered what happened to him; wasn't he chasing Bak? Looked like he was almost there
earlier. Bak is mashing a huge gear up there, looks really strong.

Nice 5k drive to the finish for Lars Bak
The first cyclist to stand up to him. And he did it in silence.
Wow! I didn't expect that.
