Apparently they do
When the idea of Hincapie was first mooted there was a lot of chat about the amount of money they had to spend

I'm at school so difficult to multi task.
Searching roosters, booklists, studentthings so you were faster..
I've spent years at school
My good students always multi task

Have you told them you're bored?
Any good teacher sees that as a challenge

Yep. Boredom.
No problem with attitude if you’re interested.

Engineers-boofheads!
I love the arty types
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
according to Ballan,
It’s true that BMC is not a ProTour team and has to have invites. But Cervélo showed how it is done this year," he told La Gazzetta dello Sport. “You need to have good riders and the invitations will arrive. BMC also has [George] Hincapie, [Marcus] Burghardt and [Karsten] Kroon, no?”

It has to do with the rotation of the Earth
A concept which most of the world is familiar with. It’s kind of a spherical shape, you see…
Yes indeed... So why isn't it happening.. c'mon give us the goss!!
"the rest was over 30. And that doesn't mean old and useless, but experienced and with the stamina"
Jens! Voigt, Crit Intl Interview, 2009
Deep breaths, m'dear. Think calm thoughts :-)
Like you said, it’s still August for three more hours.
And I hate to break it to you, but being realistic- with the timezone difference, you’ll have to wait until tomorrow evening…
Don't know if it's the same in the print version
but in the web version of the Gazzetta article CN are basing their story on, those other names aren’t in a direct quote from Ballan (or aren’t any longer, anyway). Gazzetta seems very keen to talk up Lampre, Cunego staying, Petacchi joining (is it just me or does that not quite do it?), lots of young riders coming through etc. but I wonder if they’re one of the PT teams whose licence is in question & if Ballan really does feel he’ll get better chances elsewhere. Bet the Lampre sponsor’s well pleased after he personally stepped in to keep Ballan in the team.
Second is still good

rbjhan, trying to drag us into the 21st century again?
I truly cannot fathom why GPS would be in any way necessary…
I'm guessing
that your idea of a wild shopping trip is not a tour of the op-shops, and secondhand bookstores…
I'm a library person
I don’t buy books, not a lot anyway. unless it’s textbooks.
my ideal kind of shopping trip would be going to JB Hifi, EB Games & Harvey Norman….
you would be getting that vacuum thing
to work around the hundreds of books I own. Electronics shopping in Tokyo is exciting even to me

only problem is I don't read Japanese!
otherwise I would have bought Professor Layton 2&3 long time ago!

I even managed to set the timer on my air conditioning when I lived there.

Morning all!
More cobbles today, yay! Unless you’re an Andalucia rider then i’m sure it’s more arghhh :/
"When he accelerates, he's like Superman emerging from the telephone booth!" La Gazzetta journo Paolo Condo talking about Edvald Boasson Hagen.
Err, no....should i have been?
"When he accelerates, he's like Superman emerging from the telephone booth!" La Gazzetta journo Paolo Condo talking about Edvald Boasson Hagen.
Perhaps the most confused were the riders from second-tier Spanish outfit Andalucia-Caja Sur. These flat, cobbled roads through woodland and housing estates in North West Europe are clearly not what they signed up for when opting to compete in their national Tour.
Ahhh!
No, I hadn’t read that, but I did see a thing with a couple of their guys saying they had no idea what to expect. I feel sorry for them, it’s no wonder about 6 of their riders came down yesterday :/
My favourite quote was from Valverde though, said perhaps he’ll do Paris-Roubaix next year since the cobbles weren’t that bad. Hah, i think he was joking….we’ll see
"When he accelerates, he's like Superman emerging from the telephone booth!" La Gazzetta journo Paolo Condo talking about Edvald Boasson Hagen.
I like there jerseys... Can you buy them...

Hmm, strange, i got told there were cobbled sections today

Confusion. Think it was yesterday. Others thought it was today...
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
Yeh.
I got told that ProCycling listed it as having cobbled sections but i dont have my copy handy to check, it’s packed away somewhere inside my car ready to move house!

I think cobbles were over yesterday
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
ProCycling
St 3. Route analysis:
This stage could change depending on the weather. If it’s fine, the riders will tackle a number of cobbled sections but these will be bypassed if it’s inclement. Apparently, the organizer’s don’t want to make things too stressful. What’s next? Mid-stage counselling? The cobbles should spice up this flattish stage. A final bunch sprint looks likely.
Beautifully done!
So can we assume weather is fine?

Good move by Rabo
they need to do something on these dutch stages and this way they don’t have to chase the break for an outside chance for Freire.
So are these real climbs or acne?

it's rather classics like
with Cauberg and St Nicolas on the menu.
but finish is quite flat as far as I can see…
Perfect race for Freire. He marked this stage with his marker. Think it's almost perfect.
He’s always there in AGR, WP and LBL. Only the last hill is too steep for him., With this flat finish it would fit him perfectly.
So someone is paying attention.

We're so 21st century.
The race doesn’t really begin until we get live pictures.
Throughout the stage all I kept on thinking was: ‘don’t finish second, you can’t finish second again’.--Heinrich Haussler
I've decided that my crappy feeds mean I'm only semi-live
I was referring to the peloton , but you’re right, seeing is believing in the twenty first century :)

140km to go, gap's going back up again, nearing 10 minutes again
"When he accelerates, he's like Superman emerging from the telephone booth!" La Gazzetta journo Paolo Condo talking about Edvald Boasson Hagen.
A bunch of us followed Lyne and a few others who were there on twitter yesterday
There was no live video if you can believe that.
I am so excited still!
Ah yes, I just read Vlaanderen90's race thread about it.
Thanks to Vlaaderen for the breakdown. And good for George! He needed that.

Amazing thread. Lots of work and great typing skills.
Seriously ZoeRochelle, how could we come here and miss Big George?
Great result by the way ;)

I know. I was kidding. I figured you'd all heard but had to say it again.
Did you see this? Mike Friedman crashed badly. Ouch.
Even looking at that hurts.

Ouch indeed.

So you see the editors' problem ;)

Is this like when the Swiss army couldn't read the map
And managed to invade Liechtenstein?

This is the same thing
As a man tapping his watch while waiting for his wife to get ready.
