Podium Cafe Virtual Swap Meet
After having a short email discussion with Drew regarding his shifter dilemma it occurred to me that there might be a need for a virtual swap meet here at the Cafe.
With that in mind, I would like to humbly suggest that we use this FanPost for that purpose. If you need something, or if you have something to trade or sell, why not post it here?
If you like this idea, please "Rec" this FanPost to keep it pinned up top.

I have a variety of stems
mostly on the long end, 110 – 130 mm.
I surrounded myself with the wrong sized stuff for years.

I may just email you about one of those stems
I recently had a bike shop send my bike to me (I moved) and they broke the stem. So they “replaced” it with one of lesser quality. Annoying… Anyways I’ll shoot you an email, hehe

have at least one set of campy brake levers
and a fairly pathetic set of nuovo record brakes.
(anyone who tries to tell you that the old brakes are better most not like stopping very much).

definite interest in acquisition of girly stuff
starter road bike for short newbie (5’ 4") who loves a deal – i.e., best case would be something purchased for wife or significant other that’s been gathering dust despite initial best intentions.
currently a watcher, not a rider – so i really don’t know what all i need! complete package has an appeal. :)

I’m serious, if you know anyone in the area that’s interested, I’ve been trying to dump this thing for four months now. Sale of this bike will allow me to be Lyne’s photomoto next year :)

2 questions...
1) Does it come with crotchless chaps? If so, what size?
and
B) Will you include the full-face helmet with the Roman Legion mohawk on it?

Is it just me or does the "Your eyes are full of hate," quote sound...
… like it could have come from Jens!

Can there be any other kind of chaps besides crotchless?
I mean, if it has a crotch, don’t we call it pants (or trousers, depending)?

Nikon lenses anyone?
70-300mm 3.5/5.6 AF-S with Vibration Reduction.
18-135 mm 3.5/5.6 AF-S
I’ve replaced these with faster or wider lenses. These are in nearly new condition, in box.

Include location in description?
country, regardless…state if shipping will cost much… city for whole bike / pick up only stuff?
by JFS_PGH on Aug 8, 2009 11:54 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Like my bro,
lots of stems, all 130’s different clamp sizes though. Not the wrong size but I’m anal about stuff matching. I have a couple bars kicking around too, 42cm c-c (realized a few years ago that I preferred a 44). I also have some brand new salsa cross brake levers. Won’t use them. I would take $10 + shipping for them.
Boston area.

tires
anyone know where I can send a couple years of accumulated used road tires for some kind of creative re-use? I’ve seen wallets made out of bike tires, and shoes in Morocco I think it was… I can’t get myself to just throw them away.
by kimchi on Aug 10, 2009 10:21 AM EDT reply actions 1 recs
try your local
freecycle group? That’s “cycle” as in reuse/recycle, not as in bikes, but…who knows.
These wallet makers use / want innertubes of all sorts, not tires.
by JFS_PGH on Aug 10, 2009 5:57 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
thanks
yes, thanks for the links – I have some innertubes as well, off they go.
We have freecycled all manner of things, will try these as well, who knows.
I haven’t seen a bin at our recycling center, but will ask our LBS.
thanks all!

I had a Pedros saddle bag
that was made from a recycled tube but it developed a tear at the seams. I’m not sure why I mentioned this, so do what you will with it.

inner tube messenger bag
sweet, they also have an entire messenger bag made out of (tractor and bomber!?) innertubes.
by kimchi on Aug 12, 2009 8:04 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I was going to say your local recycle center as well
Our community recycle center has a bin for tires and tubes.
by Fred Marx on Aug 10, 2009 7:58 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
also lots of bike shops
have started taking them, they then take them to recycling centres

Just ran across this
and thought some of you might be interested. Seems to focus on used tubes rather than tires.

Videos
I have a huge collection of old race vids, but there are some gaps (eg. 01, 02 Giro; 93 Flanders anyone). What you got to part with? Some duplicates I’d be willing to swap include 99, 00 Giro; 94, 96, 00, 08 Roubaix; 99 Flanders and the ’97 Tour. If no trade I have some funny looking Canadian money.

L Guerciotti frame, fork, and seatpost
It’s too big for me. It rides like a 58, and I like something a bit smaller. It has about 1000 miles on it. I can send all sorts of photos, if you are interested.
Full carbon. Monocoque design. Hand made in Italy. Really. Not Taiwan. Dedacciai “Black Pearl” carbon fiber.
I can sell the frame alone, or with the 7800 DA gruppo. It’s disassembled. You’d have to build it up.
