You need to get that chip off your shoulder

It’s too embarrassing to list the (winning) reasons why ;)

That's just the thing... I'm not hearing any excuses

for this proliferation of relatively dull scenery on supposed ‘mountain’ stages. There is still a glacier or two in Spain, surely…

It looks like Oz in summer (with castles)

Not many glaciers in TDU either …

I have reached the conclusion

that you have no taste….

mountains are the best!

by rbjhan on Sep 12, 2009 6:39 AM EDT up reply actions

Those are not mountains

Sorry. I’m fussy about my mountains. If we’re doing ‘mountains’ in Europe, I wanna see something a little more impressive than the Great Dividing Range, you know? I wanna see Big Walls. I wanna see Glaciers. Bloody hell, there are more impressive faces in the Blue Mountains that what we’ve been seeing in the Vuelta so far :-(

I'm aware of that :-)

I’ve done many return trips to Portland, via Melbourne, by car. (Now there’s a cold place in Winter. And my relatives lived on top of the cliff there… brrr, that wind cuts through you!)

But GOR is a stone’s throw from Geelong. If I’m in the area, I’m going there :-). You are welcome to join me, if you care to… I’ll even restrict my comments on the scenery to “Ooh pretty”. LOL…

Morning!

Have fun with today’s stage. I’m off to the Tour de Carmel. Not quite as challenging as the Tour of Spain, but one does what one can.

I’m hoping I can watch the stage on TV later, but they’ve been pre-empting the Vuelta for high school football. They must assume the 50-100 parents who might feel obliged to watch that outnumber cycling fans in the area. Bah, Comcast!

Throughout the stage all I kept on thinking was: ‘don’t finish second, you can’t finish second again’.--Heinrich Haussler
