Around SBN: Can Tebow Say No To Anything?

How do you pull off the fastest Metric Century of your life?

You don't notice that the nice person handing out the route maps at registration has handed you the map for the 45-mile ride.

No wonder the second checkpoint person asked if I was averaging 30 miles an hour!

D'oh!

Even then, the route at the Indian Head 100 was a pleasure to ride! Did any PdC'ers make it down there this morning? FYI, the Super 8 Hotel in Indian Head was a steal at $62.00 and less than a mile from the start!

Yo Sui Juris, did you make it down? If not, are you planning on the Sea Gull? Is anyone here doing the Sea Gull?

Ha

I just had an “oh shit” moment a few hours ago in which I realized that I never got back with you or the other person I knew riding this today and I’d made noises about joining. I didn’t make it (I’ve both lent out my other wheelset AND haven’t gotten my rear wheel back from its rebuild. Kind of a sorry excuse, but it’s the reason). Sorry about that.

As to Sea Gull, hmm. I’d have bet that I’d have had a ready-made excuse in that entries were closed, but . . . how in the hell are they not? I guess popularity has slacked in recent years. Now that I’m thinking about it, though, I’m kind of tempted. If I do (and this depends primarily upon a room within 20 miles of the start – hardly guaranteed), and you’re looking for company, I’ll jump on for a good bit of it. I’ll stick with you for the first 62 miles, but if you’re still aiming for the 5 hour century, the break at Assateague Island is where you’ll lose me. Love that place, and take great joy in a bit of a stretch and ocean-gazing there.

Assateague

always reminds me of an ill-thought-out January camping trip. Was wrapped in a pendleton blanket, in my sleeping bag, in a tent, wearing a whole lotta clothes, and I still wasn’t warm.

if you would have used a

Shackleton blanket, things might have turned out differently.

we're staying about 23 miles from Salisbury...

whatever you do, do NOT stay at the America’s Best Value hotel in Salisbury, it stank of mold and disinfectant!

Anyhow, maybe we’ll ride together a bit! See ya! Maybe! :)

One that isn't too bad...

We stayed at the Comfort Inn in Salisbury the year of the Nor’Easter. (I have no idea how we lucked out getting a room there.) It was clean and rather comfortable which was surprising. And, it’s not too far from the start.

Sea Gull in '10!

New gruppo (and new motivation) later this winter. How’z about turning it into an East Coast PdC publicity tour?
