Vuelta Stage 15 Jaén - Córdoba..........LIVE

Vuelta-live_mediumFirst day after the mountain should be reserved for the breakaway-artists who have saved themselves this weekend. The two climbs up the Jeronimo! just before the finish should be enough to pursuade the sprint-teams to take the day off.

A three man sprint between between the Arvesen, Ballan and Leonardo Duque looks inevitable here. Let me be the first to congratulate Duque on his win.

Too bad for Bob yesterday. And have to agree with Jens.

It’s breakaway day but not with the names named by him.

by Sui Juris on Sep 14, 2009 8:56 AM EDT reply actions

I'm not sure

I’d call it good, but it’s definitely interesting. The Mezquita is one of those places that were forever being remodeled by the latest conquering religion. Roman temple, Christian church, Moorish mosque, Spanish cathedral. All incorporating what came before.

by Sui Juris on Sep 14, 2009 9:01 AM EDT up reply actions

was ghastly in my opinion,

but yeah, interesting i guess – the columns of the original mosque had been built of torn down christian churches. Then later when the christians took back over they built a cathedral inside the mosque – that’ll show em. What a mess. Was probably nice when it was originally constructed. But the Alhambra in Granada was my favorite down there.

I know those roads pretty well.

Reus dropped de Gendt with about 15k to go on the coast road, which is basically a long, flat straightish dual carriageway actually, so I think he did very well not to be caught. I would have expected him to be. Then with about 2k to go it was downhill through the city centre to the river, that bit is rather twisty, over the bridge & then a sharp left with about 300 m to the line. The peloton was indeed split by the chase & pretty strung out. I think it’s a very good win, myself.
