Vuelta Stage 16 Córdoba - Puertollano.........LIVE

Vuelta-live_mediumA hard day at the office awaits Columbia-HTC as they presumably will try to control the stage today for André Greipel. The german sprinter is not only one of the few remaining sprinters, he is also the main/only threat to Valverde in the points-competition. To win it he needs this stage to come down to a sprint, though.
Luckily for him the Haitch-boys know how to deliver.

If you’ve ever had a hankering to watch Laurens ten Dam catch a fish and eat it raw, this is the video for you.

There’s also a video of the van he talks about on Twitter all the time.

Ten Dam’s been the revelation of Twitter, as far as I’m concerned. He comes across as nice, funny, and just seems to love cycling.

You're right.

It has been a problem in the last couple of days, and I would not be surprised if it continues today—especially as other are reporting similar problems.

But since it’s been off and on, I can’t say I’m having problems, since for all I know it could be over. Thus, all I can say is that I’ve had problems.

that two of the Three Stooges instead identify with an alcoholic who dies of a heart attack, a bitter old paranoid, and someone who gets caught with a hooker. Well done, Seahorse & RBJhan! We also learn that Helsy, bless her young heart, has a little bit of trouble with the concept of feeding and care of goldfish. To you, Helsy, I say – practise on goldfish before you move on. Finally, we learn that Seahorse isn’t nearly as challenged by tech as she lets on (something she learned from Frinking, perhaps).

This is a weird question

but in this race are we hearing more of the whir of the bikes than usual? I like it, it’s atmospheric.

Love the sounds of the bikes

but I haven’t noticed it any more than le Tour, etc. “Atmosoheric” is a nice term to describe it though.

Dutch team for Mendrisio

- Robert Gesink
- Karsten Kroon
- Koos Moerenhout
- Lars Boom
- Johnny Hoogerland

and 1 from:
- Laurens ten Dam (but has said he didn’t really feel like going)
- Sebastian Langeveld
- Bram Tankink
- Pieter Weening

by tedvdw on Sep 15, 2009 11:03 AM EDT reply actions

weening would maybe be best?

he’s been climbing alright in the vuelta..nice to see hoogerland in there

True and I think he has more class than Weening

but he’s not much of a climber. If Ten Dam really isn’t feeling up to the challenge, Weening might the best option on that climby Mendrisio course.

by tedvdw on Sep 15, 2009 11:32 AM EDT up reply actions

interesting

Might be too hilly for Boom this time, but he has future world champion legs, for sure. I doubt Gesink has the finish for it, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he places – unless his legs are fried from the Vuelta thingy.
