Ryder Hesjedal (BC)
Elite Men - ITT
Svein Tuft (BC)
Christian Meier (BC)
U23 Men - Road Race

Women:
Alison Testroete (BC)

Erinne Willock (BC)
Julie Beveridge (ON)
Joelle Numainville (QC)
Heather Logan (ON)
Interesting about the men, I figured Barry/Tuft/Hesjedal were the likeliest to ride the RR (sorry Aaron Fillion, the Canadian champ, but you're not really at the same level - interesting that they only changed the selection criteria this year I think as prior I think the Canadian champ was a given for worlds...) - but Meier for the TT is intriguing considering Hesjedal is a prior Canadian TT champ and I don't think Meier considers himself a particularly strong TT'er. I presume Meier's 2nd place this year at the Canadian champs was a factor in the selection, and maybe they wanted to have more Canadians at worlds rather than just pick 2 TT'ers from those riding the RR.
As for the U23's, Lyne would know better than me but Anderson and Veilleux have had some good results this year (particularly Veilleux for KBS). And what with new motherhood and all I can barely keep up with the ProTour type cycling let alone trying to pay attention to women's results this year :(, so I can't comment there.

Question - anyone know if there's a penalty for riders from different countries
but same trade team assisting each other?

Are you worried that Barry might feel obligated to help a Garmin rider? He should be proud. ;-)

LOL. No. I just wondered. I read about the 2 minute penalty receive by the leader of
the Tour l’Avenir couple days ago and wondered if it is relevant here.

probably not a UCI one...
But didn’t British Cycling pretty much say a few years ago that Wegelius would never again make a national team after he assisted his Italian teammate at Worlds?

Actually Roger Hammond said that after Wegelius was helping the Italians in Madrid

Yeah but the Italians don't help themselves so someone has to right?....

It was Dave Brailsford who said it.
Something I only recently saw about that whole thing, though, was that that year, Russ Downing was initially selected, only for Hammond (who obviously was the team leader) to refuse to have him on the team, presumably because he thought they were too similar & it couldn’t be guaranteed Downing would ride for him. Don’t know how true that actually is, but it’d be somewhat ironic if it was, given how things turned out.

Technically speaking
there’s a rule saying that riders in different teams shouldn’t work together, but as that would make just about every break that ever happens in cycling illegal they don’t ever apply it.

There's a team to be proud to cheer for, the US team not so much.

VU23 men
Boivin won the Canadian Road Champ and is a stagiaire with Planet Energy – he was at Missouri. Veilleux is back on form after his injury earlier this year and has been targeting the Worlds TT. I am curious to see how he does there,
Ryan Anderson is very interesting, He was with Symmetrics last year but was often not racing due to well budget. He is very very tough, and has shown some brilliance in a few races. I am not sure about his potential but I don’t think we’ve seen how far he can go.
David Boily is rumored to be more talented than Veilleux but who knows at this point. It’s a strong U23 men’s team.
As for the women, Julie Beveridge has been riding most of the year in Europe to get more experience as has Joelle Numainville. Still a young team that needs a few more years.

Do you have any idea
what has happened to Alex Wrubelski? She just seems to have vanished from cycling.

She was on Columbia for this year but she hasn't raced since May...She developed a knee injury at the Montreal World Cup
and I don’t think she came back from it this year. She isn’t going to be on Columbia next year along with Mara Abbott so we shall see what she does
