Vuelta-live_mediumThe long desolate road was dreary and dull.
And desolate.
Let's not forget the dreariness and dullness
And the macchia. My god, the macchia!

Let's hope for some happy, fun guys in the break and a cracking, crash-free, sprint.

Evening, party people!

Woohoo! I had a good day today :-). Such a good day, I’m actually a little worried about what will happen when the gods realise their mistake…

well that was predictable ;)

No, we want a good news story!

I said 'happy', ja? = NOT Depeche Mode!

You want a good news story? OK… but it doesn’t sound so wonderful now that I articulate it, LOL…

Woke up in horrible pain. The sort that usually rolls on for days. Took an interesting combo of analgesics and NSAIDS – and within an hour I was FINE, much to my surprise. Then a workmate turned up with a present for me :-) (a bottle of Buderim ginger beer syrup, yum!)… and then the same guy rescued me with a shift swap (meaning that the next 6 weeks will not be a living hell for me now). And then I got paid for the handbag repair job – and went to the bottle-o after work and spent it on Chimay and Leffe to drink during Worlds :-).

All up, a collection of good things happened, and none that were really ‘bad’ as such. The best bit being that I was not in pain for very long, when I was steeling myself to cope with several days of it :-)

Perhaps the two are related.

There might only be so much good-day karma to go around—Lou couldn’t have such a great day unless rbjhan had a bad one.

If you need something to cheer you up during this dull stage

Then try to read Chris Anker Sørensens newest blog entry at http://blog.tv2.dk/chris.anker.ol/entry335317.html
I know it is in danish and don’t know if google will translate it well, but he writes rather good stories about his life on and off the bike, and about having Jens! in the car during the ITT in Missouri.

Right,

I am not angry at you, just disappointed.

;)

by tedvdw on Sep 16, 2009 6:59 AM EDT up reply actions

Thing is

CAS himself was quoting a Belgian soigneur, and you probably wouldn’t say a Belgian was speaking Dutch, even if Flemish is essentially a dialect of it and the words are the same in both. So in context, I think Flemish is correct. Without the context, you have every right to be disappointed.

I wouldn’t be putting so much time into thinking about this, but you know, ik verveel me.

Not sure what you think I'm laughing at, but I'm learning something here.

So only Flemings without sense and foreigners like CAS would refer to what they speak in Flanders as Flemish? That’s interesting, and something I didn’t know.

Yeah well, sorta.

Most Flemings, like all Europeans, are jingoistic bastards and very proud to proclaim that their language is Flemish. The official languages of Belgium are called Dutch, French & German. In any sort of formal setting, Flemings will say their language is Dutch. People you meet in the corner café, people on TV entertainment shows, Internet Forum People; informal.
