Vuelta Stage 18 Talavera de la Reina - Ávila...LIVE
Excellent parcourse today for those riders still left in the Vuelta. It seems there are precious few of them but those who are still here are here to race.
Looking at the profile a break is sure to make it today. Getting in that break is going to be all out war between those who still have a little something left in the tank. This is one of those days you wish we could get coverage from Km 0.

Ah, now Tosca (sat in the front row at Covent Garden's production..Terfel scared the life out of me) is ok but I'm generally not a Puccini girl.
I find Madam Butterfly intensely frustrating….the girl is so naive!! Give me

Australian EVANS Cadel (161) has now signed in. His team managers Hendrik Redant and Marc Wauters inspected today’s stage yesterday in order to decide whether there was suitable terrain for Evans to attack.
Sort of begs the question
(a) would they know, and?
(b) would DQ believe them?
Honestly, if the S-L DSs told me that today was Thursday I would get out a diary
Huh????
They can attack Gesink today after his injury yesterday. Can’t make something out of your post.. Sorry
Just implying that the SL management team...
… may have some trouble successfully differentiating between the arse and their elbow.
I wasn’t implying that DQ couldn’t do something, just suggesting that any plan cooked up by Silence Lotto would be of the baldrick variety
Oooh, harsh
… but true! ROFL. A *Lotto DS with a map strikes me as a dangerous thing…
Morning all!
Not liking the sounds of the weather, Philip Deignan also says thunderstorms expected, eeek!
Anymore news on Gesink? That photo was nasty

Tampoco parten HESJEDAL Ryder (114), ganador en Velefique, ni el campeón del mundo contrarreloj GRABSCH Bert (173)
Damn. I'm not sure who I have left in the race at this point.
Boom and Gilbert, maybe.

Bos is not going to Rabo PT. He is also not continue with the Continental squad. He is going to an other team
not that bad
You need either “will not continue” or “is not continuing” rather than a combination of the two.
Is that because of what happened with Impey, then, or something else?
Dunno..
Maybe he didn’t get the support he wanted by the PT. He wanted a train a la Cavendish. That was maybe slighly over the edge for Rabo but the van Impey accident can also be a factor
Oh, that's good.

If this lot stay organised
I’m not sure the peleton can bring it back, even if it were to try.
Too many teams with good bets in it – too few teams who care that they go.
Is the break stronger than the peleton today?
Errm, perhaps.
Not many of the strong teams aren’t represented, just Cd’E. Think they could if they wanted to, but question is, do they?
Venga Caisse d'Epargne!
Do CdE care?
This break neutralises Leaky, and more generally there is no GC threat in it . If I am them, I sit up and relax to save powder for tomorrow
Precisely my first thought
But then AV still doesn’t have a stage win and i know despite the brave face he’s putting on he’s still itchy for one. Cobbled uphill finish is very classicsy..maybe he’ll target tomorrow instead.
I can see them leaving this one again.
Venga Caisse d'Epargne!

Tommy D needs to prove he can finish a grand tour. I don’t care if that hurts his already almost non-existent chances of doing anything at Worlds. Unless it will hurt his future health, he should do everything he can to get to Madrid.
Damned if he does, damned if he doesn't
If he stayed til Madrid then lost in Mendrisio, his harshest critics ( read other thread) would have a field day. The hype on him has been wrong. Why not blame that instead of buying into it?
