Garmin interested in Nelson Oliveira!!
The silver medal in U23-ITT in Medrizo said that are some teams interested in him, and Garmin seems to be the most interested. He doesn't decided yet if goes to USA, or stay in Portugal in his current team, Artesania Galicia/CC Lugo a sub23 team, or in the LA-Paredes Rota dos Moveis, a continental portuguese team. After did a 5th in the ITT of Tour de Avenir and a 2th in the WC, he demonstrated his chrono talent, and if he cross the Atlantic, he will have as a teammate the Australian who beat him in Medrizo.

Can he climb?
Garmin’s obsession with time trialists is bordering on unhealthy…

+ 1 million
I have no clue what JV is doing any more. Time to switch gears and hire race winners, not top 10 time trialists.

Well, that's not entirely what they've done this summer, is it?
I’d say Vansummeren, Kessiakoff, Hunter etc may well have been hired for other qualities? ;-)

Hunter yes
The only race I can remember Vansummeren winning recently was due to his time trial.

How do you define Bradley Wiggins?
Vaughters has said repeatedly that he doesn’t have a big budget so he looks for riders with potential to develop, it obviously doesn’t always work out but what do you want from a team that’s been ProTour for less than a year. They are developing a team and the future is looking fairly good.

Yeah but Wiggo’s tired of playing for Wigan and figures it’s time to move on (again – talk about a journeyman cyclist) to Manchester United.
One of the many problems facing JV is that he can’t really afford to lose his investment in developing cyclists – Mini Phinney, Wiggo – before Garmin becomes just a feeder team for the big boys.
pounding along in three ratios like a sonata

We'll see if they become a feeder program.
Mini Phinney may have had other influences that led him to Livestrong.
I was under the impression that Wiggins performance at the Tour compared to the investment JV made was easily covered. How many of the so called big boys bought themselves as much with their millions as JV got with this “project”?
The one thing that worries me about the idea that they will be a feeder to others is the idea that Lance and Team Big Hug will be an attractive destination to the American riders who grew up idolizing Lance. Radio Shack doesn’t have a lot of riders yet but are probably waiting for the PT license to formally hire more fodder riders for their non target races. JV needs to keep hunting down the best available talent if that is so.

Not a climber
But from what i know, he can climb a bit and with is age and Garmin history of turning TT guys to very good climbers… he has great potential but great youngsters are never certain great pros.

+1
yet he doesn’t race a lot with professionals, if he will develope in a stage racer, will take some years i think.

That's great news!!
Great that a big team is interested in him, though i was hoping Caisse might feel like taking him on as a nice addition and compatriot for Costa..
I admit to not knowing tons about him before Mendrisio (info was slightly hard to come by when i tried to research him) but he was very, very impressive and definitely worth watching out for. Fingers crossed for him
Venga Caisse d'Epargne!

The article as I understood it did't say he was going to the US.
I think if he is racing PT then he’ll be in Girona. If he goes to the US he’ll be racing on the development squad and that option didn’t seem as likely to me, at least not without family or some other attraction.

probabily he will stay in home
and take a few trainings in Girona with the teammates. The “moving for USA”, is a matter of speech!
