Tour of Missouri Stage 2 Live

Tom2profile_medium

Its a 180.9 KM stage today.  From the Official race website:

This new territory for the Tour of Missouri will offer the racers their first taste of state’s rolling hills and scenic countryside. Some early KOM hills and a technical finish on Cape’s riverfront should provide a challenge for the day’s winner.

Video here: http://tourofmissouritracker.com/

Live ticker: http://live.cyclingnews.com/

Video started early on in the stage yesterday as a low res version with Dave Towle's race announcing as the audio commentary. With approximately 2 hours to the finish, Paul Sherwen and Frankie Andreu took over for Universal Sports and the high res video became available. No video as of yet for today and the stage started about 30 min ago.

Oh no! So disappointing for him.

From CN:

Christian Vande Velde (Garmin-Slipstream), last year’s winner, has dropped out. He fractured his hand in a crash yesterday, and we guess he just couldn’t ride comfortably enough to go on with it.

God Damnit!

This sucks.

first KOM

Moises Aldape Chavez (Team Type 1)
Chris Anker Sorensen (Team Saxo Bank)
Jason Donald (Garmin-Slipstream)

looks liek even the live ticker is having time getting info. So we know those three are in a break of at least 9 riders.

Hey Zoe!!

I am following the race via Lyne @podiuminsight. I’m at St. Louis airport waiting for my plane back to the Bay Area.

Definitely bummed out!!

Lyne and I have so much fun covering a race together!!

She has a great interview with the Colavita boys up today. She chatted with them yesterday. Can I just say….Haedo is adorable!!!

So what's up with Floyd Landis...?

is he in this race and does he actually look competitive for a change…?

well, good.

just curious because he used to be so dominant – figuring since he’s ex-protour I expect to see him at the front of US racing – my concern is that he still feels tender from his hip operation.

HI everyone.

    Anybody looking for a good laugh should look at Willj’s new fanpost. It’s good filler for a few minutes while waiting for the video to start.

I've often wondered that cycling

is part sport – part public works project – especially in regards to the Euro scene.

Siutsou had to stop for a front wheel change, and perhaps this will help the leaders as the Columbia-HTC team might back off the pace while the Belarus rider chases back on.

what's with all this wine drinking...?

the wine makers must be a sponsor for this race…?

…as the whole idea of cycling and health goes down the proverbial drain.

cars would stop and pour fans on the course a glass of white …. no joke

Moderate wine consumption is healthy.

    Besides how often does a rider take a swig of his champagne as part of his victory celebration.

I understand that though

After fielding 20 calls a day from my dad who watched his very first tour this year, I forgot how difficult it is to really understand cycling. Especially if you don’t attend the University of PdC. The old man just quite couldn’t comprehend how a 13 minute break could be caught. He kept getting excited about a reshuffling of the G.C. on a flat sprint stage.

1st time I saw Tour de France live

a nothing stage had a nothing break 10 minutes ahead and a bunch of Americans (and me) started screaming Lance has lost(!!) as we awaited the Peloton

It can be confusing

Embarrassing in retrospect

Just remember that

10 km is 6.2 miles, and that we invade other countries so that they can be free, and you will go far here…

by Jimbo... on Sep 8, 2009 4:01 PM EDT up reply actions

the thing about miles vs metric ...

100 metres over 1 kilometre = 10% grade

528 feet over 1 mile = confusing

invading countries = ummm thx?

18 degree trick

I use – 10C = 50F and 18F for every 10 up or down. Remember those two things

So
10C = 50F
20C = 68F
30C = 86F
40C = 104F

and just look at the closest one. It is almost totally automatic for me now, but I wish I didn’t have to do it.

why on Earth would sky not just try to get Bert and keep him? I know Wiggo is British but they want to WIN the Tour right?

I got a totally useless email from Cycling tv today

Subject – Paris-Bruxelles Worldwide & Free

Text – Paris-Bruxelles Free and Worldwide (with some restrictions) on Cycling TV and a link to get full details

Restrictions – Coverage is not available in Belgium, France, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Russia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Australia or Great Britain

My email ends .co.uk – d’oh! Cant imagine anyone .fr, .be etc was overjoyed either.

But in the bit where they were trying to sell me the vuelta i did come across the phrase in partnership with universal sport (right click) which I wasn’t expecting. Though why you would pay when it’s free anyway remains a mystery!
