Vuelta Unveils Red Leaders Jersey

Apparently, Red is all the rage this year. The Vuelta a España will have a red jersey for the race leader, while in Italy, the Giro d'Italia points jersey will be red. Not just any red: Passion Red.
The Vuelta organizers unveiled the new jersey today. Apparently, a headless mannikin was all they find to model it. Of course, that does mean that everyone will actually see the jersey, unlike the Italian presentation where there seemed to be a bit of a problem for some viewers.

Weird and bad as this is as a leader’s jersey, take out the leopard spots and I think I would like this as a team jersey.

This is almost becoming comical now, like the jerseys designers are trying to out ugly each other at every opportunity. Someone please pass a design preservation law before these fools touch the rainbow, yellow and pink jerseys as well. :(

Radio Shack…..unintentionally funny.
Astana…..took something bad and made it worse.
Passion Red at the Giro……sounds like a beverage not a cycling jersey
Columbia jersey post 2008……brutal, white shorts to go along with a frog like yellow.
And now this Vuelta monstrosity….oh my medication. :)

apparently this doesn’t ring in the heads of the race organizers, im gonna spend the whole vuelta snickering at the leader now, just terrible.

The spanish federation works long and hard to establish a proud tradition and then along comes some designer nincompoop and undoes years of hard work. Ay caramba!

I was really stoked about the red too beforehand
Something more bold than “almost yellow like the TdF”, but this was really meh.
I liked the move to red to distinguish the leaders jersey
but after seeing that I would like the simple gold jersey back….or take off all that unnecessary shit all over it. The Giro jersey’s are nice and simple, including the new red, that’s how this one should look like. Clearly Spanish designers can’t design cycling jersey’s(Fuji now this).
