Podium Cafe Kits - Now On Sale! [Update] LAST DAY!

Pdc_icon_medium

Ordering for Podium Cafe kits is now open.  Please read ALL of the information below before ordering.

Update: Did we mention that Podium Cafe kits are now available?

Up-update: We will take orders until February 5, next Friday. We have a way to go to make the minimums, and we can't order stuff if we don't make minimums. But we also don't want to delay indefinitely either. So don't delay! Order ASAP!

Final(ish) Update:  Going once, going twice . . .

Star-divide

First & Foremost:  This is a cooperative at-cost project.  That is, this project is the result of a number of us putting personal time and effort into designing, ordering, processing, and delivering the kits to our fellow PodiumCafe fans.  The prices and shipping fees you see are designed to make sure that all costs are covered, and nothing more.  If you have any questions, please ask them here.  We want everybody to be happy!

Color: It's black.  Sure, your monitor may tell you that it's brown, or perhaps even grey.  But really?  It's black.

Sizing: For sizing information, please consult the size chart at the end of the page. The cut of the jerseys is form-fitting. If you prefer a looser fit, size up. Also, if you are between sizes, I recommend choosing the bigger size. Feel free to ask questions here at the Cafe or contact Gav directly over email if you have questions about sizing.  She did try on samples of the kit.  If you want a closer look at the materials, check out Capo's custom catalog, here.

Women’s kit: Unfortunately we are unable to offer women’s specific jerseys, but the jerseys are available in XS. Also, we are offering a women's bib that has a shorter inseam or women’s chamois for the bib shorts at no extra charge. The women's inseam is 2.54cm/1" shorter than the standard bibs.  Chamois differences are pictured below:

  Capo_shammy-cut_medium

How To Order: You must pre-pay for all items. You may order as many or as few items as you like. It is not necessary to order a complete kit.  Easy, no?  Now, it gets a little complicated:

  • US Orders - We will handle orders for shipping to US addresses through the Google Checkout buttons below.  Click to add each item (after you've selected your size) to the Google Checkout cart.  When you're ready to check out, hit the Google Checkout button on the top right of the box.  It should be pretty clear from there.  Update: due to the limited flexibility of the shipping cost calculators, we have them set to make the assumption that if you are ordering two items, you are ordering a bib and jersey (thus requiring shipping in a flat rate box, at $10.70).  If it turns out that you have ordered, say, arm warmers and a hat (which would fit in a flat rate envelope, at $5.50), we will modify the order and charge a lower amount.
  • Non-US Orders - For reasons entirely uninteresting to you, the Google Checkout order system will not automatically process orders for shipping outside of the US.  So, please make note of the items you want, and send an email to doodsmak@gmail.com, specifying 1) the item(s) you want, including size 2) your shipping address, and 3) your preferred method of shipment (US parcel post (slow & cheap), US priority mail (not so slow, still kinda cheap), or UPS (fast, rather expensive)).  One of us will manually calculate the total, including shipping, and send you an "invoice" via email.  This invoice will contain a link back to a Google Checkout page that will allow you to pay with a credit card.  Please note that Google imposes a 1% surcharge on non-US orders.

Delivery Time: You should receive your order in 8-12 weeks. As anyone who has done team or club kit orders knows, there can be delays in the production process. Please be patient. We will do our best to keep you updated on the progress of the order. Once we receive the order from Capo Forma, we will need to sort and send out the clothing to you. Please remember that the kit project is a volunteer effort. We will do our best to get your clothing to you as fast as possible, but there could be delays along the way, especially for international orders. Thank you in advance for your patience.

Important Note: All sales are final. Please read the product information and size charts carefully before placing your order. We can not process returns (because, well, there is nowhere to return it to!). Ready to buy kit? Get to clicking below. Happy Shopping!

Gav what is the model of the bib short exactly?

I was googling reviews and charts because of my in betweenes of sizes and found slightly different size charts around the net. Not much different but since I am in between….

Er...

Anatomic cut is all I have for the bib name. They from Capo’s custom catalogue. I’m not sure if the custom clothing fits the same as their off-the-rack bibs.

And don't be fooled

I was getting ready to ask about socks.

Tought about that a few days ago on the road/been out of the action. Black socks with the \o/ on it would complete the kit for me.

lol

gah, no socks is kinda yucky, unless you can afford to buy new shoes all the time, which i can’t.

we couldn’t do socks with this order cuz the minimum was really high. and since this is our very first time doing this, we weren’t sure what sort of interest level we would really have. if lots of people want socks, we’ll try to do an order at some point. but let’s get this one done and sealed first.

i’m ready for the skin suit. i don’t time trial but wearing it around the house will freak out my wife which will allow me to implement the \o/ arm waving and shouting. love it. seriously though, your work is incredible and this kit is awesome. ordering now…

Dang. I'm XL in Height (6' 2"), but L in Waist (33)...I hate sizing up.

Is there a fellow “long-torso-ian” out there with Capo experience?

Dude, my team kit is Capo made

I’m 6’3" and 180 lbs (32") waist, and the Large bibs and Medium jersey I ordered fit perfectly. The jersey is race cut, which I’m hoping the PdC jersey closely approximates.

"Woof, woof, woof! That's my other dog imitation."

by Drew Davis on Jan 21, 2010 3:26 PM EST up reply actions

whoa...

…you ordered two sizes smaller on the bibs according to height… and they’re not, um, “high in the stride”, as they say? They don’t cramp your…um…style? Are you long legged / shorter torso?

I’m not just being silly, please do tell! I hate this cycling clothing sizing business, ugh…

by gregm on Jan 21, 2010 3:42 PM EST up reply actions

I think you should probably

ask for pictures of Drew (dressed), along with the answers.

by Sui Juris on Jan 21, 2010 3:54 PM EST up reply actions

"high in the stride"

is exactly my issue. Thx Drewd, I’ll give the L a try.

by swells on Jan 21, 2010 4:07 PM EST via mobile up reply actions

Indeed, the Large bibs work just fine and the boys still have room to breath

Though by the chart above I may go with a Large jersey. The medium looks smallish.

I’ve got a 34" inseam, so I guess I would be long in the legs and short in the torso.

"Woof, woof, woof! That's my other dog imitation."

by Drew Davis on Jan 21, 2010 4:45 PM EST up reply actions

now Drew and Johnw got me confused

I am 185 (6’ 1’’ right?) and have a 88cm inseam that is 34 and 1/5 aprox. I was thinkking on going for the XL according to the table.

But drew is higher than me with almost the same inseam and uses L while johnw is a little shorter and lighter but uses M!!

Should I go to the Large? I am not sure I will be able to find Capo in Chile to give a try on an real kit. I recently bought 2XU bibs and I bought it XL.

Totally confused.

Your bike doesn't want to crash so relax and let it roll!!!

by perezbike on Jan 21, 2010 10:00 PM EST up reply actions

are you sure about that inseam?

Because that’s a . . . big inseam. I’m 6’1", and am on the edge between L and XL. But that’s mostly an issue of circumference, and not height . . .

by Sui Juris on Jan 21, 2010 11:19 PM EST up reply actions

if inseam is the height of

hum…the measure from the floor to…hum between your legs….yes I am sure. i have measured with different methods and that is right.

180 pounds…right?

Your bike doesn't want to crash so relax and let it roll!!!

by perezbike on Jan 21, 2010 11:58 PM EST up reply actions

34" inseam?

If you are only 1" (2.54 cm) taller than me, but your inseam is almost 2" longer, then your torso is shorter than mine.

In my mind, torso height (crotch to shoulders) is the big factor when buying bibs. I find that the M Capo bibs give me sufficient room. It’s snug, but only when standing. When I’m riding there is more “clearance” due to the seated position. The caveat to all of that is weight. If you carry more weight, you may need a L.

Now, let me say that I have ridden in L Capo bibs. They still fit, they are just a bit looser. If you are concerned I would go with the L.

by johnw on Jan 22, 2010 11:13 AM EST up reply actions

I would second that

I’d rather be a little tight in the shorts than too loose. That is disastrous. Fhe L’s fit me perfectly, but that may also be a factor of a 32" waist than anything else.

"Woof, woof, woof! That's my other dog imitation."

by Drew Davis on Jan 22, 2010 1:36 PM EST up reply actions

anyway i thinK your measures are more similar to mine

same inseam, same weight and you are taller.
sure this bibs are not to tight and the boys have room to breath?

Your bike doesn't want to crash so relax and let it roll!!!

by perezbike on Jan 22, 2010 11:49 PM EST up reply actions

Yeah, no worries

Though ‘breath’ in bibs is a relative term, isn’t it? Let’s put it this way – they’re not strangulated.

"Woof, woof, woof! That's my other dog imitation."

by Drew Davis on Jan 23, 2010 4:42 PM EST up reply actions

Sure.

I have my waist measure also and is 33. So a I am little fatter it seems. But if you are taller than me with the same inseam it means that the braces will not be over tight which is my concern.

I am thinking on L.

yes I think i may have long legs

my doubts was in fact if I should go for the L or XL. I bought I 2XU bib short and it was XL. a bit loose on the legs, but i felt the large was too tight on the shoulders.

Your bike doesn't want to crash so relax and let it roll!!!

by perezbike on Jan 22, 2010 11:45 PM EST up reply actions

Buy L and extend the braces

Just cut the braces on the shoulders and stitch a soft piece of cloth between the ends.

Sizing is really hard, totally agree.

I wish the industry would standardize. Meh.

by Jen See on Jan 21, 2010 5:15 PM EST up reply actions

6' 165lbs

32ish inseam, 32ish waist

I ride in M bibs and M jersey from Capo.

The jersey is tight, but that’s how I like it.

When ordering LS jerseys I go up a size to L to accommodate base layers and such.

by johnw on Jan 21, 2010 4:25 PM EST up reply actions

Yep

Race cut for the jerseys. They only make one cut at Capo for jerseys. So sizing will be the same as your team kit (presumably).

by Jen See on Jan 21, 2010 5:14 PM EST up reply actions

very helpful, thanks!

you’re almost exactly my size – i run a few lbs lighter and can still get in a 31, but i think L will do the trick! doodsmak can expect an email… :-)

Question: What company makes these for PC?

This is so timely… I have to order jerseys for our company participants in a group ride coming up. Also, if anyone has other suggestions of good companies for making small runs (<10) of jerseys, I much appreciate it.

by hughw on Jan 21, 2010 8:52 PM EST reply actions

Capo Forma.

See the link above, under “Sizing”. Not sure that their minimums are, but it can’t hurt to check. I’ve also had experience with Champion System. Quality is middle-of-the-road*, but they may be amenable to smaller runs.

*That is, I still have my kits a couple of years later, but they’re not the first I reach for, when thinking about a long ride ahead of me.

by Sui Juris on Jan 21, 2010 9:00 PM EST up reply actions

Thanks for the links

Capo has high minimums but the Champion link might work.

by hughw on Jan 22, 2010 12:07 AM EST reply actions

Capo minimum is 35 for the jerseys.

I think Garneau will do small runs, but they’re spendy.

by Jen See on Jan 22, 2010 12:43 AM EST up reply actions

I always worry about the hips.

The men’s small jersey would probably do me but I do often find that it’s too small, like, below the waist. Not much can be done I guess as the men’s medium would be way too big around the bust!

by Albertina on Jan 22, 2010 6:39 AM EST reply actions

Hmm, yes

This is always difficult. I wish we could offer a womens cut jersey. The small does fit snugly at the hips. The medium will get longer – longer in the body and longer in the sleeves. For me, the small has a race-type fit – I’d wear it if I wanted a streamliney sized jersey, while the medium fit more relaxed with a bit of flappage. I think at your height, the small would probably fit better overall. I’m somewhere in the neighborhood of 5’10" ;-)

by Jen See on Jan 22, 2010 11:30 AM EST up reply actions

Adding..

The size you usually buy for pro replica kits and such will probably work for these, too :-)

by Jen See on Jan 22, 2010 11:35 AM EST up reply actions

Things is, I usually get medium in pro replica kits.

I’m shaped in a womanly sort of way you see…I’m not stick thin and my hips, like, go out a bit. But I’m only 5’4’’ and my bust is smaller than 38!! I’d rather it were too loose than too tight as I don’t want a tummy-clinger which makes me look fat. Do you think I should go for the medium…? I’ve never found mediums too long, and I think you’re probably thinner than me so if a small is snug on you….arrrgh, this is too complicated!

by Albertina on Jan 22, 2010 12:08 PM EST up reply actions

Hmm.

I think medium would probably work better for you. Shoot me a line over maily and we can chat more about girly stuff.

For today...

we need to get the commitment numbers so we can get Capo to fire up the machines. From there we can place the order and we don’t have to entirely pay it off on the day we place it.

Man u guys can be picky!!!

Now imagine if I started getting pedantic about custom fit. I’m a cyclist in a skinny runners body, my genitals have been de-constructed and I just rode a few 500 weeks.

For a fee

I am sure Capo could have the shorts taken in to suit you. Most self-respecting outfitters will cater to guys logging 500-mile weeks.

A frozen 'cross ride from this last weekend. As you may be aware we have had siberian conditions here in the UK with a low of -14 degrees centigrade here on saturday morning. It was a beautiful sunny morning so i layered up and set off for a snowy 'cross ride along a roman road. I checked the thermometer when i got back to find it had been -10 throughout the ride! I had a lot of fun though and the views were spectacular.
