Here I am again for a glimpse of the Argentinean tour. Todays was the last day for the GC riders to try to displace current leader Vicenzo Nibali as the 150 Km stage was a mountain top finish and tomorrow's stage only has one category 3 climb and Liquigas should control the proceedings.

The day started with the inevitable break before the peloton had the chance to reach the category 2 Alto de Catana on km 33. The break included chilean Luis Mansilla, Jairo Perez (Col), Martin Garrido (Arg), brazilean Magno Nazareth (Scott) , Jorge Martin Montenegro (Arg - Andalucia Cajasur) and spaniard Rodrigo Garcia (Xacobeo Galicia). With Leaky riders patrolling the peloton for race leader Nibali the break resisted until a few kilometers past the beginning of the climb. When the elite climbers increased the pace on the last climb the peloton shattered to pieces and just 11 riders remained in the front group, including 4 Diquigiovanni etc etc etc (Ops now it is called Androni-Giocatelli) teammates ganging up against the Shark. Leaky had also Robert Kiserlovski to help his team captain.
While the chicken was leading the group the first attack came from Jackson Rodriguez, Nibali defended sucessfully followed by the Rasmussen. A few minutes a later came a stronger attack from Jackson and the shark and the chicken quickly responded. This time the 3 man group managed to get some advantage over the other riders of the front group. As they slowed the pace and the 8 man behind reconnected came what seemed to see the winning move: a strong acceleration by Jose Serpa who was sitting half a minute behind Nibali on GC.
Once more the 2009 Giro del Appennino winner was able to close the gap and defend the top of GC. On an interesting feature Jose Serpa was pipped at the line by teammate Luis Mate (Spa). Vicenzo finished in 3rd place followed by Jackson Rodriguez, Rafael Valls, Carlos Ochoa and the Chicken.
General Classification after Stage 6.
