Hasselt CX - some pictures, some crayon, much awesomeness.
So, as you should know from reading the CX calendar, Saturday's CX race was in my hometown, around the swimming pool where a young gs splashed around and the monkeybars a young gs used to climb all the way to the top (yeah, I'm tough like that). So, a top race on home soil? I couldn't let that one go by unattended, could I?
The battery on my good camera died pretty quickly (and I'm a mediocre photographer to begin with), so my little Canon Powershot did most of the work.
On the lookout.
Jan Denuwelaere.
Enrico Franzoi.
Kevin Pauwels on the heels of his teammate Zdenek Stybar.
Bartje Wellens, leading Aernouts and Albert.
Aernouts being chased by Niels Albert. Anyone know what happened to Aernouts' leg?
Niels Albert.
Tom Meeusen.
Painface. Gerben was not having fun yesterday. I shouted Allez Gerben! at him because he looked like he was having a shit day, but got zero response. He was in a zone of suffering.
Come on Gerben, almost home. Finishing stretch, just 75 more metres to go.

Great shots, thanks for sharing
Must be pretty amazing to have the best cyclo-crossers in the world race around your childhood playground:)
It is fun. It also helps to know the shortcuts throughout the park
Even though some involve thorns. It was worth it.
Nice stuff
Ah, the pain cave. Just me in my crap amateur ways, but when I’m in there, I can’t muster a response to anything.
For me, Flanders. I think it is the single most beautiful day of racing in the year.

Yesterday, I did manage to speak when I was in such a cave.
I managed to yell ‘how many laps left??!!’ at the finish line dudes. Their response did not fill me with joy.
De cross gaat door!
You do yourself down as a photographer Miss GS! These are very nice.
I hope you didn’t headbut Styby there….you look like you’re about to! And incidentally, did a young gs go down that big slide too?
De cross gaat door!
Of course!
And incidentally, did a young gs go down that big slide too?
It was faster than a bullet on superspeedy train too.
I LOVE the painfaces!
So you weren’t tempted to leap out & hug them, like that Niels-fan last year? ;-)
Those are great, cannot believe how close you got to them! Thanks SO much for sharing!

Oh, you can get right up their faces at cross
Seriously. If you have a strong urge to tackle cyclists, CX is the place to be.
Super fun :D
Thanks gs!
Also, don’t be dissin’ the powershot. Small, but mighty, those little dudes.
Man, those are some muscly legs
Fantastic pics tgs, thanks for posting. I hope you went for a celebratory slide afterwards.
"Your not going won't unbreak her arm."
They should so incorporate that into the parcours next year.
Bike on shoulder, up the stairs, down the slide. Fun for all! The part where they land in a swimming pool shouldn’t bother them.

Those stairs are brilliant
making the most of the natural landscape I believe it’s called. Just hope that the Hasselt organisers see this and are inspired to not waste that big yellow thing in the middle of the playground.
