So, here we are halfway through the NFL season and I wonder how your team is doing...if you have one. In the last version of "Introduce Yourself" or "Who Are You" or whatever it was called (which I can't seem to find), teh Grind Crusher and I engaged in some lively debate re: our respective teams in the AFC South. Actually, the conversation was more fan oriented than team and, suffice it to say, he's as passionate about his team (Texans) as I am mine (Titans). There are plenty of NFL Team Fan sites at SB Nation, but I prefer to hang out in the friendly confines of the Cafe.
So, how's your team doing? Remember to type slow (Steelers fans can't read very fast).
Titans are coming off a Bye week at 5-3 facing the Dolphins at 4-4 in Miami. In case you turned off all electronic devices this past week, you may have missed that Tennessee picked up Randy Moss for the rest of the season. Normally, I'd be indifferent at this news, because when you never throw the ball deeper than 11 yards, what's the point in having a deep threat? Then I had this thought: maybe when we're in our usual 3rd & 7 situation and we call our usual draw or screen that gets us our usual 6 yards, maybe, just maybe, the Randy Moss threat will clear some guys "out of the box" and Chris Johnson can go to work.
Re: the rest of the Titans Schedule - 5 of our last 6 games are divisional and those are always tough in the AFC South, especially with the emergence of Texans RB Arian Foster who put down 231 against the Colts in Week 1. The Titans have motored thru the NFC East which, to be honest, I thought would be tougher.
How do I feel about us being "contenders"? Tough to say. The AFC is rigid this year. I'll have a better feel after the first game against the Colts Texans.
