Interview with Kloden by CN. A couple of RS riders not even mentioned. Kloden sounds like grumpy old man, btw.

Not mentioned regarding what?

Horner not mentioned for the Tour, is that it?

by Jens on Dec 9, 2010 12:53 PM EST reply actions

yeah, he's been pissed at the german media for a while

it’s somewhat understandable, although i’m not too familiar with the german media’s cycling reporting. on the other hand, it seems that he thinks people should stop talking about doping since everything is better now. i’ll buy that there’s been improvements, but not the “shit” (to use his words) about how the testing is good enough so we needn’t worry about doping any more.

"Ants don’t worry, they operate like a fantastic team, they accept obstacles and deal with them in a positive manner, they don’t complain and remain positive. An ant doesn’t work on emotion, is proactive and always chooses the ant role."

Nobody dopes anymore? Try and tell that to the amateur riders.

In italy 15% of doping tests was positive. Story in Velonation here

I think there is a rational side to it

Logic:

As explained to me by a friend (his theory)

We Germans think:

1. It is unacceptable for a German rider to dope

2. Foreigners dope

3. Clean riders can’t beat dopers

4. What’s the point?

I enjoyed the article because it's not often Kloden is interviewed...

‘Grumpy’? I think bitter would be a better word.

No, no! In the last week or so he tweeted often from Dubai. I was happy to see him back :)

It really is about time for this team to stop overlooking Horner.

I don’t care if he’s spoken candidly in the past against certain things or people or has had his bouts with management about contracts and roles he should play or whatever. He hasn’t ratted anybody out. He’s proven he’s a strong bet for GC ambitions in certain races and can hardly be beat as a super domestique and team player.

Look, he made the decision to be on that team, and I don’t believe he is so delusional that he thought he’d have any chance to really do anything but maybe co-captain some one day races and haul coke.

What would Deming do? (+8:00 GMT)

I'm with miner on this one

Horner is RS’s best remaining RACER.

Maybe he ain’t got the best SRM numbers, maybe his time trial sucks.

But he’s 100% baller. Unlike some folks on that team . . .

by R Mc on Dec 9, 2010 9:39 PM EST up reply actions

I don't think expecting more than what you just mentioned makes him delusional.

Did you see Pais Vasco and the Dauphine this year, not to mention his Ardennes and Tour performances? Going into next season, this team could at least stop skipping over his name like he’s some bottlejockey and give him credit for his riding in 2010.

In 2009 people were stupidly ripping on him for being old and washed up because he had a couple crashes.

Hey hey hey! I had a lot of fun doing that.....

I think Ryan’s point is not what Horner deserves but rather that he knew what he was getting into when signing with RS and he is ok with those terms. If that is indeed what he meant I agree with him. If it wasn’t, then it’s what I mean and I agree with myself.

by Jens on Dec 9, 2010 11:45 PM EST up reply actions

my fave line from the leadup to his signing

he was listing his attributes, then said something like “plus, another benefit for the team that signs me is that they don’t have to race against me.” hehe

I'm feverished, or the way you want to spell it

by plinytheelder on Dec 9, 2010 11:59 PM EST up reply actions

If that is Ryan’s point I agree with him. Otherwise, I agree with you.
