I am glad that they came to some sense and shortened the course up a bit...
It is good to add the climbs but you don’t need to make it monument length to make it even better. Plus the Kemmelberg is less than 10k from the finish! Should be a good race to watch.
sorry to confuse
this is a cropped version of the profile. The Race finishes at 219km…so the 2nd time up the Kemmel is ~40km from the finish.

I'm excited even more now
The Kemmelberg is 25km closer to the finish. And after 15 climbs instead of 1. I’m expecting a whole lot of fun watching this one.

I started the salivation process two weeks ago. This is just more details.

"A transitional year"
That’s the explanation for making the race 219km instead of the 257km planned. I blogged a couple weeks ago about how they’d really loaded up the race, but now I think reality has set in. Three 250km races in three sundays might be overdoing it.

Make that 4 sundays in a row...Let's see 298k at San Remo, then it would have been 257k at Gent, 262 at De Ronde and then
260 at Roubaix. That would be 1077k over 4 sundays not to mention the mid week offerings…I’m glad that they found their place instead of trying to challenge the others.

The distance wouldn't be the problem it would just be hard for them to race flat out like that....
over and over again.

There should be an award for the guy who has the highest average cumulative position after those four races.

There is...
he gets valued at 18+ in the following year’s VDS. That should be incentive enough, right?
