Awesome how Sporza is going over Nuyens nightmare with him
…so how did it feel to ride 5k on a flat and get no help that whole time? Wanna see pictures? We can show you some in case you forgot.
The teammate was Flens and he was changing his wheel for him lol
he should be grateful but that is actually before he had the other flat tire
by Vlaanderen90 on Feb 27, 2010 11:07 AM EST up reply actions
3 in total
1st one was early, with Flens was the 2nd, 3rd one was what dropped him from the front group.
Haussler is second.

1. 16:52 Haussler tweede
Haussler wint de spurt om de 2e plaats, voor Farrar en Boasson Hagen.

But you can love the flying Norwegians :)

As an Australian, i have to tell you, any Murdoch owned enterprise is sus..
that said, there are riders on the team and Sunderland whom I love.
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
Hm. I thought there was a law against putting the name of the evil one in print..
Watch out Seahorse, they may be coming to get u…
The tsunami might get to my place first.
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
BTW, Totally off-topic: I just returned from a long ski-trip in the woods north of Oslo.
SO I missed the race. How very Norwegian of me. Greetings all! :) And nice to see that good old Flecha finally was able to make it to the finish line. Bravo!
You accidentally said "Norwegians", plural
… only one of ’em has earnt my love, so far. And his flying has mainly been over the handlebars, this season…
I know, but I was dipping my lid to Holden's man EBH ;)
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
"5 ♦ dip one's lid (Austral) informal to raise one's hat as a greeting, etc"
Knowledge garnered: Check! U are wrong about my relationship to EBH, though. Haven’t u seen my VDS team? ;)
No. i can barely work out my own.
I was remembering your pleasure at EBH wins last year though. And liking a rider doesn’t necessarily you have him on your team. I’m missing lots of my faves..
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
Yeah, I know. Just failing miserably at being elusive and un-pinable.
Yes, it is true. I like EBH. There, I said it. Again.
There are things I'm very bad at, but the teacher in me files useless stuff about others' likes and dislikes
and I remember them. Anyway, most people here like EBH, no harm in that. I like Vino and Kloden… now that’s really not always embarrassment free
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
On the topic of EBH. IMHO he was clearly overpriced in the VDS-contest.
Probably due to the hype, no?
I have no idea. I think only time will tell.. but I think that's all part of the fun.
As long as i had fabian and Stuey i was happy.
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
Hey, I damn near bought him myself..
I retract the clearly part. Just my opinion. Hopefully he will prove me wrong, and earn a number of VDS points that befits his price tag.
Well he earned 200 points today
I would say that he’s a good buy if he makes 1200. So he’s a sixth of the way there. Much better than say, EBH or Boonen or most everyone else at the moment. Of course that shows making assessments based on one race is perhaps premature.
Who earned 200 points today? HH?
Well, we were discussing the price of EBH. Not HH. IMHO EBH, at 24 points, is overpriced. HH, at 18?, is possibly not. I agree that one should not make assessments based on one race..
OOOHHHHH
EBH snagged 120 points today. Also a fine way to open his account. I see no reason why from this race he won’t score the 1600+ points that would make him a good buy.
As u so wisely stated: One should not make assessments based on one race.. ;)
Last year he made 1180 or so points. It IS likely that he will do better this year. My reservations stems from the fact that he has yet to display an ability to persevere for 250+ kms in the classics. I think it may be one year early for that. Hopefully, I’m wrong. This is coming from a EBH fan. Do u have him on your team, ursula?
Anyway, determining which riders are overpriced and who are not..
..is basically the point of the game. I was in no way trying to criticize the people responsible for creating this magnificent game.
Now that is a gorgeous save ;)
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
I know.
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
My pleasure...
Is it rude to ask who your ‘big buy’ was?
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
My big buy was Cuddles :)
And I also (unwisely?) bought the one who does not sprint for the minor places. :)
;) Well, I probably would be, if I was quite sure what facetious means.
Instead let us agree that I am a playful joker… Although I must admit that I don’t know the background for all this resentment towards team sky. Anybody care to provide a brief explanation?
And where's the romance in that?
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
Yes, but it makes the cycling season interesting if you have good guys and bad guys.
Garmin, for example, were good guys, until they unmasked themselves and crushed big George’s yellow jersey chance. Then they were the bad guys for a while. But now that they’ve been done wrong by Sky, they are back to being the good guys…
Also note that HTC
were the bad guys until everyone forgot that this team is still the Telekom team of Ullrich, Vino, Aldag, and Zabel.
Vlaanderens Mooiste
He's having a makeover led by Lou, ably supported by Frinky with me bringing up the rear ;)
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
Bah humbug. we believe it... doesn't really matter what anyone else thinks :)
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
You obviously missed
the Vino-love ‘coming out party’ that spontaneously happened around here a little while back ;-)
Depends on perspective
I LOVED Telekom, so I’ve thought of them as the good guys except for a brief period as Columbia when they were the US darling team and I got nauseous.
Vino is the dude. He’s just this guy, you know.
Vlaanderens Mooiste
See, and I still see Klodi as a 'dude' too..
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
I have a soft spot in my heart for Kloedi as well
Its the whole tragic result of the East German Youth sports program thing he’s got going on.
Vlaanderens Mooiste
Yes! I think he has the added problem of being fairly reserved..
But he’s on my VDS team. Just couldn’t help myself.
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
As someone who's neutral... look at Oman race
plus, and most importantly spending huge sums of money and poaching riders, especially Wiggins
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
Well really, that's it in a nutshell ;)
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
Good. And I must admit I don't much care..
I also think that if bagging them relentlessly starts to happen we’re going to offend some lovely Brits here who are rightly excited that they now have a home team.
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
I concur about the tedious...
although when Cav has won his umpteenth race I’ll be tedious too.
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
We all have our favorite forms of tedium
I, for one, can’t WAIT until I see how Lefevre plans on dominating the Ronde and Paris-Roubaix this year. Send Devolder on a break w/ Boonen in the chase? Team-time-trial across Northern France? Call the winner from the car? Boonen in a group sprint? Boonen wearing out the other favorites and winning solo?
So many ways for Quickstep to dominate. None seem tedious to me, but many think Lefevre is the devil.
Vlaanderens Mooiste
Now this is tedium to live by :)
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
Call the winner from the car...
… ’bout time I dusted that DVD off and gave it a spin ;-)
The brits are mainly concerned with
the negatives that come with BSkyB ‘s big financial involvement. I don’t follow Premiership football but I gather the big money comes with some not so pretty side effects.
I can see that
but we should all be much more concerned with the true sins of not working when you have the jersey, attacking in the feed, and having a whining-to-work ratio seriously in the red.
Vlaanderens Mooiste
You mean they're in line to earn a 'Whinging Poms' award?
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
Possibly
when I’m feeling generous I remind myself that it is early in the season.
Plus, Van der Flecha’s influence should be taken into account. His Jens’ Factor goes a long way toward making up for the rest of the team’s deficit.
Vlaanderens Mooiste
As a Gerrans fan I also have some hopes for the lads...
And yes, Flecha was fantastic today. i think Frinky might cry..
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
Why is spending huge sums of money on a rider who will never win a GT a reason for cycling fans to hate the team?
In my mind, it is just a bad investment. My impression is that team Sky will be a very competitive team. My impression is that team Sky is taking a firm stance against doping. That the other teams dislike team Sky I can understand.
Maybe not that meaningful for a Norwegian. It means bugger all to me...
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
Flood of un-capped money into a sport...
…establishes a few teams perennially at the top and makes it virtually impossible for anyone else to compete.
Thanks. That makes sense..
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
BAH soccer
… although, now that a certain Portuguese guy has gone from ‘my’ team, I’ve got a vague interest happening again. Pity about where he’s gone to… although I suspect that my affection for that team is really just an extension of an unholy love for José María Gutiérrez Hernández…
We call it 'The Tall poppy Syndrome'... that's all I've got. It's nearly 4am..
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
Ok. Let's change the terminology. I love having Sky as the bad guys...
“The team you love to hate”…
Let's share it around so we don't offend people.
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
But i thought in the Commonwealth we assigned that role to Americans ;)

HH still had a hell of a sprint after all that work he did
Yeah – he’s in shape.
"Woof, woof, woof! That's my other dog imitation."
Except for the sandbag, that is.
If he wasn’t hauling that, he’d have won easily.
I love video of guys being escorted to urine control
very rarely have I ever been escorted to the bathroom, I always imagine in my head that the conversation is more awkward than it probably is considering the winner is happy and everyone probably just offers congratulations and talks about the race. Doesn’t help when Flecha is chugging a water bottle.
What a win!
I bet Sky got a great deal on him and he came through big time. Those three look to be in good form for this spring.

I don't know
Racing has been good for a long time. The only thing that has brought more coverage has been an American rider/team dominating in July.
Even then we got more coverage, not better coverage.
But it’s probably bad form for me to break out the cynicism after such a beautful day of racing.
