Need help picking your VDS team? The unicorns are back!

Depending on which one fits your personality (or perhaps that of the rider you're considering), ask either the White Unicorn or Black Unicorn for advice in building your VDS team. In either case, go to the site, type the name of a potential pick, then click the bar to see the unicorn's verdict.

Not familiar with the unicorns? The White Unicorn is sunshiney and good, and delights in helping the pure of heart. The Black Unicorn isn't--and doesn't.

Has Whitey been hitting the sauce?

Name entered: Riccardo Ricco

Answer: If you perform three good deeds by tomorrow, I know he will bring success.

At least Blacky gives a more sane answer to The Cobra:

I like the way you think! But, risky.

by ursula on Feb 5, 2010 7:06 PM EST reply actions

Or maybe my heart is just not pure enough for Ricco judging by this answer:

Lance Armstrong:

I…I wonder if you’re asking the right unicorn about this one.

BINGO!

Sheesh

Like I would tell Black Unicorn who I’m thinking of picking. This sounds like a trap.

That would be such a Black Unicorn thing to do!

Any one remember the film 'The Labyrinth'?

My memory is hazy, but I seem to recall the following:

2 doors. A gatekeeper outside each. There was a gatekeeper who always lied, and one who also told the truth, and you could ask one question and had to guess the right door to go through.

Solution: (pointing at the other gatekeeper) ‘Which door would he tell me to go through through?’ Go through the other one.

Perhaps we ask a unicorn which riders the other unicorn would not recommend?

A txapela is one of those big floppy berets they wear, and give to winners of sporting events.

Txirrindulariak means ‘cyclists’, believe it or not, and Txindoki is a mountain in Gipuzkoa.

by Albertina on Feb 5, 2010 8:04 PM EST up reply actions

I had txirrindulariak

But thanks for the rest, now I now two more basque words!

I have no problem believing Txindoki is a mountain…. in 2008, I’v been to the Col of Burdinkurutxetako. Took a picture of the sign at the top to remember the name…

I would love for George to get a P-R win. He has had a great career in cycling. But with Boonen, Haussler, Cancellara, Pozzato

I’m just not sure where George will get the power from? :( I wish him the best and that would be an awesome thing for him to win.

Also be advised of Romain Sicard’s early season schedule. He will be riding all of the northern classics (G-W, De Panne, De Ronde and Roubaix) so a collarbone might be breaking.

…..then I start to look behind the facade.
It appears that Whitey isn’t such an independent, unbiased advisor as one would think. In fact, Whitey appears as an avatar for one of the most fierce competitors in the VDS!! (minor spanish stageraces excluded)
