Not that I can really figure out what's going on, but I do see mud.
And the Belgian national jersey.

Something to hold us over until Qatar starts tomorrow.

Qatar! The startlist brings a tear to my eye.
Barbie, Boonen, Boss Hogg, Phil-Gil, Cancellara, Farrar, Ballan, Benna…Trek Livestrong is sending both Benjamin Kings, is that wise? Poor announcers…

Ooh, the Belgian national champ and the rainbow jersey guy are about neck and neck.

Do you know who the guy is who is just behind the leaders?

I'm guessing Sporza's geo-restriction is in effect
Used to be able to get around it by changing the time zone on your computer’s clock, now it seems they’re smarter than that.

And a real pity that is, too.

Wow, that bike change was fast!

Nys was interviewed before the start
said he had a bad cold, sounded rather like it too. He rode only 30 minutes yesterday and didn’t give much for his chances.
Well.
Half inch up here in South Bend
It’s beautifully sunny now. I cannot believe it. Feel like i need to go sunbathe now that the permacloud is gone.

Sheesh. We're covered in the stuff. And it's still threatening more.

Well, we already had 4inches on the ground
The huge system that swept across the middle of the country missed us. I’m not complaining!

Thing is, the GVA points system
awards a fast start with 3-2-1 points available at the start of the third lap. And there is only point difference per placing on the line. So it pays for (possibly ill) Nys to go at it for two laps and follow wheels, maybe even drop a few places, after that.
Interesting
That really does change the dynamics, especially for someone who is subpar for a day. Thanks

+1
I know next to nothing about cross, so appreciate this.

More generally,
Now that it looks like Nys is having not such a subpar day, he might do well to let Stybar hang on a little more and place between him and Albert, to maximise the point difference on the line.
Google translate this http://www.sport.be/gvatrofee/2009/nl/
The main page of the site hosting the stream and gives rules, points and the standings in the series etc
Nys currently opening up a gap on Albert for the overall
Feeds usually do better for me on Google Chrome, but this one works better for me in Firefox.
The internet. One big mystery.

Gah. Getting lots of buffering now.

Pauwels is a fast sprinter
Both Nys/Pauwels and Pauwels/Albert are nicely matched up for two sprints-a-deux.
Stybar's got a loooooooooooooong sprint
Nys just got around him.
"Woof, woof, woof! That's my other dog imitation."
Speaking of sprints...Qatar...tomorrow.
Okay, it opens with a TTT, and the wind tends to mess up the sprinting anyway, but I’m still stoked.
