Vino the Quote Machine

"'I fought alongside Ullrich to try to beat Lance, now I will do it together with Alberto,' Vinokourov told the Spanish daily MARCA."

Linky: http://velonews.competitor.com/2010/02/news/vino-%e2%80%98i-want-to-help-contador-win-another-tour%e2%80%99_103984

Star-divide

My recollection of Vino's "help" was that he would attack his own teammates, fall off early on the big climbs, and shoot off into the distance on suicide attacks that didn't end up succeeding.  And now, with these sterling tactical instincts, he's appointed himself captain on the road for Astana.  I'm not sure if I'm excited because he'll be fun to watch or I'm frustrated because he's insane.

And to add.. If he attacks I think he rocks

If he let Conta lose, he will be my hero.. And if he let him win.. He kept promise.. All 3 works…

And to say Contador was listening to teamorders….

We'll see about that.. Although he rarely finished within 10 minutes..

Vino
1999: 35ste +1.02.23
2000: 15th +32.26 Vuelta: 28st +42.56
2001: 16th +33.55
2003: 3th +4.14
2005: 5th +11.02
Vuelta 2006: 1st
2002, 2004, 2009 Vuelta DNF..

I think it’s a save bet to say he won’t finish within 10 minutes.. However.. The Giro on the other hand!

They love dirty riders.. Or so I heard..

But why not.. Now if he only hire Kasechskin again they could do those tremendous double-attacks and bye Pelli. Mosquera, BAsso, Satsre and Evans! Ugh… I really would like that.. But that competition… Getting tougher every day.. Or so it seems…

Yep.. Curious what happened there..

Maybe Vino was disappointed in Kasche.. (:
Oh that every day was supposed to be every year

Not sure how Vino not starting helps Bert anymore than if he does

Vino will get all the attacking out of his bones at the Giro and will stay put at the Tour. Really I don’t think he will be able to attack that much cause…well…he isn’t doping anymore(one would hope). Vino also seems to actually like Bert quite a bit and vice versa.

Gorgeous!

I couldn’t even vote in the poll. I’m hoping for better things :)

Yeah

Without a poll option “He does what he bloody well said he’ll do”, I have no option but to tell you all about the rain that we’ve been having here. Buckets of it. Every afternoon for a week. It reminds me of monsoon season up north.

Yep, that was my option too. Well said.

Vino and VDS

Pre-doping, Vino was easily one of my top 5 favorite riders. Should I feel bad about adding him to my VDS team?

by Uncle Ted on Feb 7, 2010 9:33 AM EST reply actions

Honestly, without any joking

I have no problem with people picking (or cheering for) returning dopers. As long as I don’t get to hear any sad lamenting or outburst of disgust at “how cheated I feel” if/when they get popped again.

and what happened to Jens?!

Well I didn't say

I wasn’t going to poke fun at ursula people for picking Klöden them.

Kinda OT...

… On seeing this Astana training camp video, I had a serious ‘WTF moment’. Actually, I’m still having a WTF response…

It’s the song, you see. I’ve never heard that cover version before (I’m familiar with the original), and it took a minute for the lyrics to register… like, seriously, what the fuck?! I suspect that someone chose that song without paying attention to the lyrics…

by Lou... on Feb 8, 2010 12:05 AM EST reply actions

The song is bad-ass. Very popular in Belgium and The Netherlands.

Millow for the one who know..
But I think they did it on purpose. If we’re on the same channel. It’s beautiful on time sometimes. But now I’ve seen the original Hmmmm

I dig the cover version

Although it freaks me out slightly ;-). The accoustic guitar intro… then he comes out with that, LOL.

Still.. I can’t see how they could have used it on purpose… did you know that the song was originally ‘Ayo Pornography’, but the record label insisted that it be changed…?

by Lou... on Feb 8, 2010 5:06 AM EST up reply actions

If you want a good time, she's going to give what you want. "When they are all smoothly together."

Contador jumps.

Hey yo I’m tired to use Technology. I need you right in front of me..

You just have to imagine that Vino is singing this.. Quite entertaining.

Different style, different move, Damn I like the way you move
We can switch position!

But I suck in getting lyrics

ROFLMAO

Kinda hard to ignore the line before it, though…

Ayo, I’m tired of using technology, why don’t you sit down on top of me

… and as for imagining Vino singing the other bit… um… well…

Different style, different move, damn I like the way you move
Girl you got me thinking about all the things I’d do to you
Let’s get it poppin’ shorty, we can switch positions
From the couch to the counters in my kitchen

… I’m leaving that one alone, LOL

The *Guttersheilas*?!

I’d like to get all indignant… but I can’t… I’m laughing too hard to pull it off. Touché. It fits – I’ll wear it ;-)

Oh dear.

It’s like this and this combined, with cycling.

yup, that first one was really on tv here.

But...

… would that not be lost on folks who do not speak English?

by Lou... on Feb 9, 2010 4:21 AM EST up reply actions

It's the Netherlands

they all speak English! (Which rather begs the question of why they need an ad to learn English, but….)

remember the story of the scorpion and the frog??

It may be a kinder, gentler Vino, but he’s still the scorpion.

A frozen 'cross ride from this last weekend. As you may be aware we have had siberian conditions here in the UK with a low of -14 degrees centigrade here on saturday morning. It was a beautiful sunny morning so i layered up and set off for a snowy 'cross ride along a roman road. I checked the thermometer when i got back to find it had been -10 throughout the ride! I had a lot of fun though and the views were spectacular.
