Ted King Chat Tomorrow!
Reminder!
Tomorrow at 9am PST (5pm GMT), Ted King will be on the site for a live chat. Come on by and ask your questions about bike racing, food, travel, style, or whatever happens to be on your mind. Ted will do his best to answer as many question as he can while he's here. Need some inspirado? Have a look-see at his bloggy, I am Ted King.
We will post a live thread shortly before Ted comes online. Please try to keep side convo's to a minimum during the live chat. Also, we will have a strictly enforced no heckling rule. No heckling the guest! We have not ruled any topics off limits for the discussion, but please be respectful if Ted declines to answer a particular question. Even real live press conferences sometimes run into the no comment wall.
Look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow!

Bummer, can't catch it live.
Questions:
1. How did he get “Ted” out of Edward Carrington?
2. At what age was he aware that cycling could be a profession? I would have killed to know that as a kid, but alas my parents failed me.
3. Is Thor really all that, tell the truth, have you taken him in a training ride sprint to the stop sign? Cervelo is holding you back aren’t they?
4.Do you have a specific goal you’d like to achieve in cycling before you retire, or was getting on Cervelo Test Team and having a shot in the big leagues sort of it?
Btw, Happy belated Birthday!

My name might not be Ted, but...
… I will answer the first question. ‘Ted’ is a common diminutive form of ‘Edward’, mate. Every Edward I’ve known has been called ‘Ted’ for short ;-)
Heh, the mention of a “no heckling rule” caused me to nearly fall of my chair… then I recovered from my shock sufficiently to register the next line, “No heckling the guest”. Well THAT’S ok… of course we can refrain from heckling the guest… and I’d imagine we can even keep the heckling of eachother to a minimum on this occasion… so long as we’re not expected to abstain from heckling eachother before and after Ted’s appearance, it’s all good ;-)

Apart from the ones called Ed. I may even have known an Eddy or two…

Funny, I don't think I've ever known an Edward named Ted.
Theodore, yea.

And let me guess, you’re an Edward too?

Hmmm...
Eduart, Eduwart, Eeltje, Evert, Ewould, Ewout
or something like that?

Indeed
Last one but with a d. Or the next to last one but without an L. Never heard of Eeltje, a strange diminutive of Eelco perhaps?

Oh, look, I'd never heard of it either
I just went and looked for some random Dutch names and that one was listed.
I left out Ewoud as the others were pretty close and I figured, ‘What are the chances?’ To which my inner monologue responded, ‘Good. In fact, I’ll bet you’ve left out the right one.’ Which I had.
Never ignore your inner monologue.

I think he answered most of your questions.
Beating Thor in a sprint though, you just might have to save that question for next time. Read the thread if you haven’t already.
