2010 Amgen Tour of California Route Details

Class.... class..... class.... SHUT UP!... Thank you. Now then... Stage details for the 2010 Amgen Tour California will be sprinkled onto the interwebs like virtual crumbs being tossed to a hungry flock of new media cycling-fanatic pigeons, or something. The lede is that AEG has announced that they will post videos showing route details and the host cites (a.k.a the start and finish towns) at the rate of two stages per day, for four days starting Tuesday, Feb 9. Details below...

Star-divide

Stage-by-stage videos revealing the route for the 2010 Amgen Tour of California will be released on the following days

  • Tuesday, Feb. 9 – Stage 1 (Nevada City to Sacramento) and Stage 2 (Davis to Santa Rosa)
  • Wednesday, Feb. 10 – Stage 3 (San Francisco to Santa Cruz) and Stage 4 (San Jose to Modesto)
  • Thursday, Feb. 11 – Stage 5 (Visalia to Bakersfield) and Stage 6 (Pasadena to Big Bear Lake)
  • Friday, Feb. 12 – Stage 7 (Los Angeles individual time trial) and Stage 8 (Thousand Oaks/Westlake Village/Agoura Hills)

Now everyone get back to work.

You Californians sure are slow

or just too high tech for your own good.
Just kidding, I see what they are trying to do, extend the excitement of Cali and hype it up as much as possible. Probably will work for many that only follow Cali and the Tour but for a fan like me I can’t get excited about the ToC in February, hell I don’t get excited about the Giro until after the Ardennes(and then my excitement for the Giro is at an unhealthy level). I am curious to see the exact details of the mountain stages and TT though.

Get back to work?

Who are you, my boss or something?

The route for Stage 6 should be interesting

Isn’t the Angeles Crest Highway closed, and for some time due to parts of the road disappearing in the recent heavy rain?

Any locals know of the forecast timeline for reopening the ’crest? Where is most of the damage? Before Clear Creek? Before Red Box or higher up?

Very little traffic usually goes beyond Clear Creek, let alone Red Box, so the incentive to fix those higher sections might drop off quickly. I mean if it’s only for some bike race….

Yes, a bunch of the road washed away.

The article I saw said it might be open again in March. Judging from the pictures, though, I’m not so sure, especially since the rainy season should continue well into March this year. I’ll look around and see if I can find the article again, but hmm, this is a potential problem, in my view.

I'll dig up the photos I saw

They did not look promising. Like, the road slid down the hill. And there’s nothing there to put a road on. That’s usually a time-consuming problem to fix.

So it may still be possible

To go up Rt 39 through Azusa Canyon and past Crystal Lake then? Joining the ’Crest at that junction and then continuing on from there ?

A fall back plan perhaps….

Yeah, I have a question for Sgt. Stedenko...

is it true that if you, like, turn somebody in for drugs, you get, like, some money?

Italy?

I thought the Giro was starting in California…

The Giro is starting in Dubai, or Lesotho, or something

The ToC is starting in Nevada City, which is not really in Nevada.

No

you’re thinking of the Sochi (NV) Tour.

Work?

Just crawled out of bed, and don;t have to be at work for three nights. I agree it’s far to early to gie a poop about ToC. Angles Crest, is it a state road or LA county? I bet Gov. Arnie can’t afford ot fix it if it’s a state road. Hell LA County probably can’t either.
