1 down and 24 to go. hope this is not the peak of their season like it was last year. My eyes must be decieving me that there were 3 cows in the top 10. Maybe Leeenos is a different rider this year, you know one that wins races.

Bah, you beat me to it!

Having picked myself up off the floor to which I had fallen in shock, I was about to post this ;)

Pfffft.

You didn’t think Leeenoos would lie to us, did you?

But his sidekick (that would be Ciolek) broke his clavicle already...

Sound strategy.

If you’re going to break a bone, do it a couple of weeks before the VDS season even starts. Rest, recover, and come back super-motivated for wins in mid-to-late March.

You sound like me

Sigh.

Yeah.

I rode through the town of Inca a few times when I was on Majorca

Its name is unrelated to the ancient Inca people of South-America but commerce has entirely bought into it. Pan flute music from every street corner, Peruvian styled woollen blankets everywhere… Gah.

Do

you gus saw stage 2, Cardoso almost take it, in that little climb he could stay at front, but down in the flat, Freire and Greipel overcomes him….

That 2nd place from Valls!! Who is this guy?!
So, for that win, Freire made me put him in my vds team…lol

Dude wasted no time to getting to that winning thingy

I guess he really just forgot to go and win last year and now he just decided he should and BOOM! victory 1, Leenoos will win all 3 GT’s and all 5 monuments this year.

Of course he will, dear.

But for perspective, let’s take a look at the winners of Challenge Mallorca races in the past couple of years, and how they did that year in VDS.

2009: Overall winner, Antonio Colom. Oops. Well, he did cost only 2 points, and returned 390, so actually was a good deal anyway.

Individual winners
Trofeo Mallorca: won by Steegmans, he of the no-point year.
Trofeo Cala Millor: won by McEwen, who cost 12 points and returned 70.
Trofeo Pollensa: Bennati, whose 620 points look okay, until you consider his 18-pt cost
Trofeo Inca: Colom, see above
Trofeo Calvia: Ciolek, cost 10 and returned 450

2008: Overall winner Philippe Gilbert, who cost 12 and returned 1090. Nice.

Individual winners
T. Mallorca: Gilbert
T. Cala Millor: Graeme Brown, cost 10, returned zero.
T. Pollenca: JJ Rojas, cost 10, returned 310.
T. Soller: Gilbert again.
T. Calvia: Steegmans, who cost 12 and returned 195.

So…looks like only the overall winner of the Challenge Mallorca can be counted on to return sufficient points to make him worth his cost. Now, Leeenooos could still win the overall, but right now as a single Trofeo winner, the deck looks stacked against him.
