I am doing the Ventoux event on June 5th in that direction

Moo

by Willj on Mar 10, 2010 10:44 AM EST up reply actions

there's one called la laurentine on May 29

100km (denivelé 850) & 170 km (denivelé 2700). Thing is the short route is nothing to get excited about. The long one i think is great – but long! But it’s some of those roads you saw on my flickr last year.

On May 15th is la Vencoise : 140 km, 2500 m de dénivelé …105 km, 2000 m de dénivelé. Again the long is more interesting – includes the col de vence from both directions, col de bleine and col de cornille.

The Antiboise in mid-April should be great – ride along beautiful coastline then up into the mountains (Esterel).

Maybe the best is if you pass through the area, just stop and do some rides here and there. Very nice things between here and Ventoux as well, although i’ve not ridden much of it. If you ever do something like that let me know i can give you some pointers on places to ride. If you ever want info drop me an email.

Loved his comment

after Boom took yellow. He wasn’t surprised , he had seen him done well before and as a cyclocrosser he was coming into the season with good form from racing. Only Boom didn’t race much cross this winter.

We got to talk to Jens! at the Tour of Missouri...

already then, to our amazement, you couldn’t tell about the crash. The only marks on his face looked like very minor, old scratches. He’s indestructible, as well as having had someone do some good work (or did he do that himself?)

Yeah I could see Jens! going well up there with it being a short power climb

but he can’t match Bert’s acceleration, with bonus seconds he needs only about 10 seconds right? Should be a great stage, a combo of Jens!-Bert 1-2 I will gladly take…oh and Valverde way off the back after he cracked miserably.

March 14, 2010: The great one returns!

by Phil H. on Mar 10, 2010 12:31 PM EST up reply actions

Hmmm

We saw today Jens! not wanting to help Contador pull; the rest of the break were also content to suck Bert’s wheel. I seriously doubt that we’ll see Jens! at any point ahead of Bert on the Mende climb. Instead he’ll hope to stay close and draft. Emphasis on the word “hope” in that last sentence.

It’ll be interesting to see what Saxo does with Schleck. Protect him too or make him pull? Then there’s Kreuziger who might be the most likely one to try to distance Bert.

by ursula on Mar 10, 2010 1:01 PM EST up reply actions

Kreuziger even tried tp pull back the break when Sagan was there

Could be the danger due: Kreuziger/Sagan but not sure if either is willing to work or sacrifice his chances for the other.

by tedvdw on Mar 10, 2010 1:03 PM EST up reply actions

Sagan said today that Kreuz is #1.

After probably his DS gave him a talking to. Kid’s a prodigy but the crazy thing is that the vet Kreuz is still eligible for the young rider jersey.

Lassen wir das(?) D-Tour uber-sprechen, ja?

Y’know, like, nome-saying? the one where one Levi Leipheimer could not dislodge a certain Jens Voigt on a climb made for Leipheimer?

Sometimes I think the muscle fibers in Voigt’s body wonder who they pissed off enough to be stuck with his will.

by R Mc on Mar 10, 2010 2:46 PM EST up reply actions

Maybe Jens! wasn't bad when we saw him shake "no" at Bert

As noted by http://velonews.competitor.com/2010/03/news/voigt-leads-paris-nice-as-sagan-wins-stage_107570

“I hesitated at the end between wanting to pull clear of the peloton and really trying to win the stage,” said Voigt. “It was a difficult decision to make.”

Huh

by tedvdw on Mar 10, 2010 5:26 PM EST up reply actions

Though IMO Jens! made a poor decision there.
