Tirreno-Adriatico Stage 2 ..... LIVE
On today's menu is a 165 km ride starting and finish in Montecatini Terme. A 3km speedbump passed 4 times in the final 60 km add a little spice but the sprinters should still be in with a chance if (sic) they are motivated.

Doing work with a Chimay
And polyphonic spree playing on someone else’s stereo

You're cheap. You love them all...
But aside from Jens! getting the yellow jersey last night, I enjoyed this one more.
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
True
But I genuinely love these races- and it’s so much nicer than saying ‘first!’.
Besides, I am confident the two seas will deliver temporary VDS redemption…
by Runitout on Mar 11, 2010 6:44 AM EST via mobile up reply actions
Thank goodness you don't say it...
So does this mean you have Linus or is it that you have an embarrassment of riches?
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
Embarassment: yes. Riches? No.
I am four hundredth or so. A monkey with a keyboard fetish would have picked a better VDS team.

I was there too, then yesterday i had what may prove to be my one memorable day..
Linus and Sagan… so i’ve made it into the 300’s for a day…
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
The young and the restless
A good combo.
I expect rather more of Sagan than of Linus – but I reckon milram will resemble gerolsteiner this year more than last. Linus and the others will win a lot more…
by Runitout on Mar 11, 2010 6:57 AM EST via mobile up reply actions
Please don't say that. All i can think of are Kohl and Schumi..
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
You can't be thinking that! i never think that. No! Just no!
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
I won't mention it again
I do think Milram have run a clean ship these last two years. Credit to them. It must be hard to do given the predominate environment.
It is particularly hard to do when your sponsorship is running out.
And I shall speak no more of it.

No doubt it will come up again...
I really hadn’t even considered it, and I’m not going to ;)

…now he has been given a lifeline.
errrr....am i supposed to sign this??
Hasn't it been great to see him having a good run?
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
Montecatini Terme?!
Fabulous! I stayed there once on a choir tour to Tuscany. It’s full of old people. We stayed in a hotel where nothing worked…loo wouldn’t flush, shower flooded the bathroom, window got stuck, door wouldn’t lock. They served us cold vegetables at meal times. When you came back to the hotel there was always a row of ancient pensioners sitting on the pavement playing cards, and watching your every move as if you were an alien species. It was also there that I got monumentally attacked by rampant Tuscan mosquitos and could hardly walk on my swollen ankles. On the plus side, there was a bar next door where they served the most amazing gin fizz……and it was easy to get to Florence and Pisa, which were far preferable!
Have you ever heard of Pommy Whingers ;)
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
Oh but it was a great trip!
The weather was blissful, apart from when we almost got struck by lightning on the cable car to Montecatini Alto ;)
I didn't get to the plus side...
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
Sounds like insects like you.
Ever been to Australia?
by Runitout on Mar 11, 2010 6:52 AM EST via mobile up reply actions
No!
The same thing happened in France. it’s only foreign mosquitos. On that occasion, having seen it all before, I went to the chemist and bought some sterilised needles to release the puss….
Stop now... TMI
But those ‘foreign’ mosquitoes are just so nasty aren’t they?

Honey, those cold vegetables?
That’s called ‘salad.’

It is salad, pretty much.
Well, contorni. First thing I learned to cook in Italy was “gli zucchini”.
Recipe: boil courgettes whole, remove from water, cut into rounds, leave in colander to drain, dress with vinegar, oil, salt (in that order, for uncooked veg it’s salt, oil, vinegar).
"I was just trying to keep warm" - Ian Stannard on finishing third in KBK
and i thought i was the only one that mosquitos (and other small critters) made meals of...
i’ve found that washing the bites asap with very cold water and ivory bar soap keeps the swelling down tremendously. needless to say, i do not go outside for any long periods of time once the temp goes above 70ish.

I am, too--but the mosquitos prefer my sister.
I get the occasional bite, but she gets swarmed.

Best mosquito remedy: earplugs
Works for me. I don’t mind, I mean I can stand, being bitten a few times but the zooming at night is what is annoying.

Well that puts paid to that theory...
maybe it’s the ginger I eat ;)
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
I read that everyone gets bitten the same....
….it’s just that some people react more. I find if I spray a bite with the stuff that’s supposed to stop me from getting bitten it stops the itching and the swelling….I use ‘Off’
errrr....am i supposed to sign this??
Disagree--I have decades of experience with my sister to demonstrate otherwise.
It's fun to beat Cancellara--Edvald Boasson Hagen
i disagree
i think they like some people more. And different bugs like different people. In the U.S. i was avg for mosquitoes, fleas absolutely adored me – they all went nuts, lost their heads and forgot about everyone else, and ticks didn’t care for me at all.
Now french fleas don’t seem to be so wild about me. Racists!
well, since i stay far far away from ginger.....

so did boonen

Suspect Martens is larger than Oscarito?
yeah, but not by a crazy degree...so maybe Boonen is a bit less massive this year?
