Is that like 'the woods'?

‘are dusty, dark and deep, and I have promises to keep’ but more importantly to cycling, ‘miles to go before I sleep.’

still possible that more than one person may yet win.

Thor is struggling.

Yesterday he was “not able to sprint”.. And Edvald does not seem to be in top form either. I sincerely hope EBH is knee deep in training for the classics. But MSR is just a week away. It does not look good for the Norwegian “sprinters”.

by Holdenmate on Mar 12, 2010 6:52 AM EST reply actions

CTT have been having issues with sprint haven't they?

EBH isn’t on my team, but i wouldn’t write him off just yet.

"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'

by Seahorse on Mar 12, 2010 6:54 AM EST up reply actions

In the past yes. But here they have delievered Thor in a good position prior to the sprints.

But he exploded on the finishing str8 on both occasions. Yesterday he was 6th into the finishing str8 and finished 34th. He is not in shape possibly due to the fact that his preparations have been complicated by illness this season. I’m not one to write Edvald off. But he is usually able to get into a good position prior to the sprints. Not so in Italy. And I wonder why. Still early days though.

by Holdenmate on Mar 12, 2010 7:00 AM EST up reply actions

It may be a combination of the lack of experience of the lead-out train in these conditions?

Some of the more experienced guys are at P-N. I think the cold is draining too, even for a Norwegian ;)

Last years top ten: Cavendish, Haussler, Hushovd, Davis, Pettachi, Bennati, Galdós, Rossi, Paolini and Velits.

None of them seem in shape to kill it next week… That’s just very odd.

Plus, in 2008, of all 2009 top 10 finishers only Hushovd finished well (9th). And the year before that, it also had 9 different top 10 finishers!

So really, this just makes me dizzy. We have no clue whatsoever who will win Milan-San Remo.

If it would be a sprint, at this moment I’d pick Boonen.

by Reeppp on Mar 12, 2010 7:37 AM EST up reply actions

that would be nice

i’d like to see someone win by attacking on that climb just before the finish

Cadel Evans is picking Boonen now, and he's a cautious man.

Seahorse, this may be an incongruous question as it is very personal..

but I’ll risk it. In your opinion, hhich aspects of Keats’s poetry and life does Tony Harrison emulate in A Kumquat for John Keats?

by Holdenmate on Mar 12, 2010 7:23 AM EST reply actions

It's not personal when i have no idea, although I'm embarrassed to admit it.

If runitout or drongo was here, they’d probably know. Is it a ‘serious’ question/ if it is, can you give me a link please? I’m curious now. or have I just made a fool of myself?

"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'

by Seahorse on Mar 12, 2010 7:27 AM EST up reply actions

It's a comparison to, not a comparison with

Keats died young. Harrison was middle aged when he wrote that.

The fruit is both bitter a sweet; a symbol f life’s futility and its richness- also a symbol of sin. He’s saying- look how you described grapes- but if you’d grown older, more weary of life, more aware of its possibilities and impossibilities, you’d have plumper for cumquats, which are a more complex and satisfying fruit.

That’s about it, really.

I use a tablet pc: even writing in margins is virtual

unless I insert a voice comment . . .

A vague topic like that i a challenge to see if students can invent the terms of analysis and comparison on their own:

You’re gonna need some familiarity with Keats’s life and some analysis of the features of poetry displayed in the kumquats poem that also appear in Keats to form the foundation of your paper.

Find a few terms of comparisons in those big groupings, and I’d suspect that you could get 10 pages—if you analyze and quote from relevant works and poems adequately.

Cant help I'm afraid

Didn’t catch sight of him in the last 2km – but assume he must have been around as QS did all the work to bring the break back.

Having two leaky up in that break just one part of a masterful day at the office for them

Hmm.. Strange TA..

Liquigas is freaking hell strong.. Serious.. 2 stages in PN and they were with 3 a 4 Liqui’s in a 12 men breakaway which was caught 1 km to go and then they had 3 Liquigas to form a train for Bennati….
Also Andy Schleck parked on the last hill.. Not looking good for the classics. Vino and Zeits also on 2 minutes. I hope that was because of a crash. Also P. Velits is distanced yesterday.. Not a good sign.
And what’s wrong with Davis?! Even a half Freire finished in the peloton..
for GC rest:
Gerdemann, Martens, Breschel, Evans, Ginnani, Hesjedal, Iglinsky, Nibali, Albasini, Rogers, Gesink, Nuyens, Uran, F. Masciarelli, Pozzovovio, Pellizotti, Vaugrenard and Visconti… Long list!
Short ls:
Whole Rabo.
