Paris-Nice Stage 6 ............. LIVE

Vuelta-live_medium

Time for the big boys to show their cards as the race hits the notoriously hard (for March) Col de Vence. It's a good bet the GC will get a bit of a shakeup today and the question is if the Caisse d'Epargne double threat of LL Sanchez and Valverde can unsettle Alberto Contador? Does he still have a lot to learn?

ah

the lovely world that is the Championship….who’s winning it may I ask?

by rbjhan on Mar 13, 2010 6:21 AM EST up reply actions

it's not lovely, it's cruel, hard cruel

newcastle are running away with it, obvz. then west brom are second…bit of a dogfight for playoff spots.

by benrazor on Mar 13, 2010 6:22 AM EST up reply actions

yeah that's right

it’s good in that it gives a lot of teams something to play for…like we’re 19th at the mo, but we’re only actually 11 points off 6th, which is not as big a gap as the prem…you can go on a run and get somewhere. but i agree, it would suck for the champions league spots.

that is not entirely up to the league I hope.

surely UEFA also has a say in it? not that I have much faith in Monsieur Platini…

by rbjhan on Mar 13, 2010 6:39 AM EST up reply actions

the league voted against it anyways, so it's all good

but i think they have most of the say. i believe holland used to have a playoff system…greece still does…i might be wrong though. all it does is further dilute a tournament that’s called the CHAMPIONS league and stuffed with a bunch of clubs who finished 4th! bah.

could happen

he did play for them, coach their youth team, etc etc…and real madrid can afford to pay off his contract! pool would have sacked him by now, if they could only afford it.

I will never nderstand that man

He kind of hearts Spain, though- he does well there, n’est-ce pas?

But still: so much talent, such little ambition. He seeks to sneak his way onto the top
step, unnoticed. Evans was the same until last year. It is not the way of a champion. It is not even the way of a Sagan.

No

He’s tough. He lacks courage. He won’t risk losing so he won’t give himself the chance to win. It’s the difference between him and Menchov.

just finished riding the final loop

up and down the col de vence. Beautiful weather – a bit cold up high – but i didn’t have a windbreak – and still, no huge deal. God that descent is a blast! That was fun. Goes on forever – not too tecnical. They are going to just bomb that thing. Most of it you pedal it. Although at the end right before Tourette it is uphill again – nothing very steep but more than a false flat – 4-6%? Goes on for a good ways like that.

Was perfect this morning but on the way back started running into some pretty good winds. But all in all i think very good conditions. Don’t think weather will have anything to do with how they ride today.
