Tirreno-Adriatico Stage 6 ..... LIVE
Whattaya know. Another lumpy stage with a challenging short uphill finish. They do love those in Italy and God bless them for that. Can you feel that smell? I bet it's the smell of a Stefano Garzelli stagewin.

It's not that random. I need something good to happen to trigger the change.

Great. Now I've got 'Planet Claire' going through my head.

It's fun to beat Cancellara--Edvald Boasson Hagen
I of course failed the test... are there lyrics at any point?
My ears are hurting, but I was at the Hordern Pavillion the first time Cat Stevens played ‘Morning has Broken’, so it’s unsurprising..

Hey Seahorse
I saw some fan-bloody-tastic blues the other night and thought you might enjoy.
Hat Fitz and Cara Robinson: Queenslander and a Northern Irishwoman. They’re travelling north, so you should see them.
I'll keep an eye out thanks..
i love live gigs..

Something must be done about your music
I don’t have Drongo’s, er, electic taste, nor his prosletysing spirit- so I’ll leave it to him.
by Runitout on Mar 15, 2010 7:46 AM EDT via mobile up reply actions
I'm not sure that it's prosletysing but he's persistent...
I have two explanations for my musical tastes: I love good lyrics and i have some hearing loss from industrial deafness which gives you some indication of how much fun my classrooms are ;)
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
+1 on the lyrics.
I’m very word-oriented, so that’s very important to me.
It's fun to beat Cancellara--Edvald Boasson Hagen
But I've proselytised most for the Lucksmiths
and while they’ve been (erroneously) accused of being boring, they surely aren’t a band to hurt your ears.
What, no youtube link? You know I would have checked them out..

Scuse me! Stop being a drongo Frinky..

Look up
Fiction, and chapter in your life entitled San francisco and great dividing range. That will give an accurate snapshot.

Great dividing range
Is like the third part to Donne and Marvell’s distant love poems.

I'm suitably intrigued..
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
well, then
here are the lyrics.
I think he’s selling it a little dear, but I can see the point, and it’s quite deliberately done.
Thanks. They obviously have significance to runitout..
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
The other song he mentioned
‘Fiction’ is here.
A slow burner, but great. Lyrics take the mick out of po-mo as well.
Okay. I can into this...
Don’t speak of po-mo. I’ve been lecturing on the Culture Wars for what seems like weeks..
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
that sounds awful
buy ‘Warmer Corners’ to cheer yourself up, then.
I’ll stop proselytising and start sleeping now.
Night then..
I’ve got lots to ‘study’ now..
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
of their later stuff, sure
I like that better, but for the wordplay par excellence it’s hard to beat something like ‘Edward Sandwich Hand’ or ‘Danielle Steele’.
the band website
is here: you missed their last gigs (for shame!).
And great lyrics
Even if they lay the puns a bit thick

I have no idea what you're talking about.
Please tell me you’re coming to Flanders?! An evening in the pub with Frinkster would be just marvellous!
He gets points for being smooth..
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
Well... I don't even know Belgian has moon lighting...
Or beaches to use that..
Oh wait… mood lightning… Eeew.. That’s your job..
Something like, 'Albertina you provide the lighting,
I’ll bring the wine and …. well after and it’s your call…
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
I think Frinky's making progress here...
Cheese, Speculoos and red…. sounds good.

you're on your own, mate
Normally I’d say ‘When you’re in a hole, stop digging’, but I don’t think the normal rules apply with you, so I simply wish you good luck.

"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
It's a very common expression in Dutch..
And well should I roin it… Yeah I will..

"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
Is it very, very early in your neck of the woods?
I’m confused…
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
Daylight savings time kicked in yesterday. It's 7:07 am.
It's fun to beat Cancellara--Edvald Boasson Hagen
I had a feeling that might be the reason, but between clocks going forwards and backwards
I’m always confused by daylight saving ..
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
It used to be even worse around here because Indiana refused to observe daylight savings time.
We’d be half the year on the same time as New York, and half with Chicago. People outside the state could never keep it straight. Didn’t conform until 2006.
It's fun to beat Cancellara--Edvald Boasson Hagen
Queensland does that... strange and really difficult for people who work in border towns.
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
Is this a challenge to offer examples or .... what?
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
I thought you might have been an example
forgive me for my presumption
No... NSW.
I am however seriously offended… no really ;)
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
no, I thought you might have been near the border
I could tell you weren’t a Queenslander.

"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
I would call that fishing.
Btw seahorse, my comment last night was a quote from the film ‘Swingers’. When the heroes leave a huge party, they offer the parting shot, ‘This place is dead anyway’.

I replied to your comment

I somehow knew you would get the reference...

‘A great film, but I just can’t watch it. Too many memories brought back to life.’

I had to look it up... I knew there was a story...

Do you think it only works in Australia?
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
It refers to you watching 'The Big Lebowski',
which means I’ll be watching ‘the Swingers’ so that I’ll understand runitout and Drongo. It’ll be easier than revising Keats.
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
I remember you saying it here some time..
I don’t remeber who wins races or the names of stages, but i remeber the minutiae of people’s lives ;)
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
In Australia the coming of DST moves us from 3 time zones to 5
Queensland has resolutely resisted daylight saving in effort to prevent curtains from fading and farmers from getting up earlier.
I know, I know…
I love, love, love daylight saving..
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
Today it sort of sucks.
Still waiting for the sun to come up so I can go outside and bury my cat. She’d been slipping off the back of the peloton for some time, and last night failed to make the time cut.

that’s why i hate daylight saving!

Did you hear from the chicken withou a head who lived fo months/years!
They fed him by putting food in the gap…. Creepy stuff!
But it's true..
Don’t know what the name is in English but the connection between something and the little brains were still ok after they tried to chop his head. Well he hadn’t his head.. Only his brains.. Amazing stuff
I know it's true, but I don't wish to think about it just before lunch.
Especially if there’s chicken on the menu!
Do.
When I get fed up of being a librarian, I’m going to move to the French Alps and set up a marmotte sanctuary like this one: http://www.loisirs.ch/activite-86-marmottes-paradis.html

Are the marmottes looking like their boss, or does the boss look like the marmottes?

Changing clocks, disappearing races….

Actually I thought the marmot was the same as the Norwegian lemming. TNL is a species that is reknowned for its bad temper. Very aggressive little bundles of fur. Some even claim that they their excitement/aggression/anger often leads to cardiac arrest and immediate death. Poor aggro lemmings. Please, convey my apologies to your beloved marmotte.

You have to help me out here..
He was 16th yesterday? The stage was only shortened by a bog 50km I thought
He was 13th yesterday, 23s off the pace. That stage was 216 km long, They had omitted a tough climb.
On saturday however, he finished 3 minutes down. That stage was 243 km long, and seemingly the toughest and most decisive in the race. EBH has not, as you may well be aware, been able to compete the best in races of monumental (so to speak) distance.
with the new(higher) costs this year
which expensive rider to pick is really tricky…but I kinda like it, make it more interesting
yeah i assumed that with the
“be patient” advice you were clearly not an owner. Us non-owners have infinite patience with the guy. In fact i think they should take it really easy on him this year – not enter him into too many races, not put any pressure on him, let him just carry bottles and such. He’s a huge talent, very young, all the time in the world …
well
I assume Holdenmate didn’t ask the question with vds in mind?
i might be completely wrong of course.

"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
oh i wasn't saying otherwise,
just bringing up another angle and hoping to take a shot at his owners
except for the 240k long stages he won in the giro and poland last year
by quarantanamo on Mar 15, 2010 8:58 AM EDT up reply actions
In the flat stage in Poland he finished at the same time as cycling legend Timothy Gudsell...
So that’s hardly a measure of monumental stage. The giro stage win was an impressive display of (among other qualities) his downhill prowess, but it was hardly the most contested stage in Giro history. I stand (partly) corrected though, I will give you that. Nobody seems to want to answer my question though :)
sure, why not....

I can say no here with the same level of confidence.
Which rhymes with: "Why's Bill in your Bed!?!?"
And hopefully that image is now firmly embedded in your brain tank.
it's maybe not a word
but i say it a lot – maybe i’m the only one, for all i know – so how to explain ‘oof’? – hmm, maybe like you got hit in the stomach – but not that bad? I think if you heard it, it would be obvious.
Yeah.. But it was shortened due snow..
So really can not say to much about it.. Well one thing.. He is npt ready yet for 200+ stage.. And it wasn’t totally his terrain.. That last climb is killing
