MSR: VDS Smackdown! Can You Klopt This?
I'm still chuckling over the very idea of Chris klopting me at Milan Sanremo. I don't know who he has exactly but I am supremely confident that my front line of the Wenatchee Wonder, Oscarito!, Hooter, and Ginanni with my backups of Boomer, Roelandts, Van Summeren, Maaskant, and Uran will carry the day for me.
What? You say you got a better team? Yeah, right. Okay let's see your team and see if you can do better!
[Chris here] I just wanted to add one more VDS note: there are four teams with Jens Keukeleire. Bow down to them.

The big boys on The Txapela Wearing etc etc are Freire and Gilbert.
Then there’s Koldo for a minor placing, backed by Uran, Nibali, Pellizotti and Barredo. You never know….
I'm sorry you have Barredo...
… but I suppose even fast ships need boat anchors.
I miss Paolo Bettini. That is all.
If I don't score big here then there's no justice, not even a sanity clause
Edvald Boasson Hagen
Tom Boonen
Marcus Burghardt
Pierrick Fedrigo
Michael Rogers
Linus Gerdemann
Greg Van Avermaet
Marzio Bruseghin
Manuel Quinziato
Baden Cooke
Enrico Gasparotto
Rigoberto Uran Uran
Mikael Cherel
Geraint Thomas
Francisco Jose Ventoso Alberdi
Jesus...
The Monty Juggernaut. Did you pick your team based exclusively on who might ride MSR?
I miss Paolo Bettini. That is all.

Score Early, Score Often
Get Screwed Over At The Vuelta
Better than the bunch of duds I’ve got on the eds’ league, most of whom will probably see the finish in San Remo on the telly in the cafe at the top of the Poggio:
Michael Rogers
Francesco Gavazzi
Giovanni Visconti
Martin Elmiger
Enrico Gasparotto
Geoffrey Lequatre
Geraint Thomas
Mikael Cherel
At least he has a team for MSR in the Eds' League.
As far as I can tell, I’m sending Klier and Vaugrenard.
It's fun to beat Cancellara--Edvald Boasson Hagen
Ed's League?
I’ve got Gilbert, so I’m guaranteed a too-early doomed breakaway effort and an out-of-the-points finish. I also have several very junior Italian sprinters who probably won’t see the start, much less the finish. Alas.
That's definitely good
Flail like a monkey man
"It's a lovely thing, feeling that momentum. If you're lucky, it's also about grace." Tim Winton
Have we started scoring the Eds' League yet?
If not, my man Petacchi will probably win. I had Scarponi at T-A, so my team strategy is clean up in all the non-scoring races, then rest on my “laurels” once the scoring actually begins.

Supposedly yes we are scoring
But I don’t even remember all of the riders that I have. I do have Breschel, who I have no confidence in for MSR, and Roelandts. Meh.
Tifosa, I have you at 5th place in the Eds' League right now.
I’ll email the scores I’ve got, but I’m not guaranteeing they’re all correct.
It's fun to beat Cancellara--Edvald Boasson Hagen
If you guys are going to talk about your league openly,
you might as well post the teams, scores etc..

We opted not to, in order not to embarrass ursula
it would be against the Geneva convention (or one of those other swiss conventions)
Jens, all I can say is
you’re lucky that in the Eds’ League, you can’t go any lower than 18th.
It's fun to beat Cancellara--Edvald Boasson Hagen
Just post the bottom three.
That’s all we care about anyway.

Oh yes, I'll take one. Thanks!
Any particular order?

I challenge your jurisdiction over theVDS scores
Clydesdale has made a ruling in the 47:th district court of Editorial Guinea that those numbers cannot be used for scoring purposes outside the official Ed’s league google doc.
I abstain
My climber squad won’t be seen much here. Well, apart from Ballan maybe.

Hey, the official scores don't exist yet.
Just what I threw together in a spreadsheet. I’m not putting up my half-assed scorekeeping without spending an hour or two checking it over for errors. And I don’t want to spend an hour or two checking it over for errors.

Where ever you go, there you are...
Juan Antonio Flecha
Filippo Pozzato
Dominique Rollin
Lars Boom
Fabian Cancellara
Karsten Kroon
Martijn Maaskant
Maarten Wynants
Obviously, my team was chosen based on the amount of variety I could find in ways of spelling “Martin”. Yes, Tony Martin is also on my team but sadly, not racing MSR.
I miss Paolo Bettini. That is all.

You write well for someone who's hands tremble that badly
but should you really be carving yourself like that?
I've got Boonen and Cunego leading my team
Hutarovich, Henderson and Vansummeren also
Eddy!
Also:
Tyler Farrar
Johan Vansummeren
Thomas Lofkvist
Linus Gerdemann
Sylvain Chavanel
Lars Boom
Hayden Roulston
Dominque Rollin
But you know who’s going to win? Greg Van Avermaet, who quietly finished 12th overall in Tirreno-Adriatico. Pretty high for a sprint boy, which means he’s in decent form and solid in the hills. Unfortunately, I couldn’t quite fit him into my team this year.
What am I saying??? EDDY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Random draw.
The winner of the draw then takes Contador and this probably wins. Drew won the draw and league last year.
This year
we went alphabetically by the last letter in the first name, which I quickly declared the rule before I had time to think about the last letter in anyone’s name.
Next year we will have to come up with something else.

My question: why is Pays d’Loire out of VDS while Groene Hart is in? The field in France is light years better with 11 Tour-possible teams and some genuinely good riders. Also, I want points from Hoogerland and Duque somehow.
From the giddy heights of the top 8, no less-
Can you all still hear me down there?
UUNNGGHH!! is sending to MSR:
Heinrich… s***!
Gerald… b*******!
Tyler Farrar
Mattia Gavazzi
Greg Van Avermaet
Pierrick Fedrigo
Lars Boom
Michele Scarponi
Alberto Loddo
Jose Serpa
Quite a few, but I can only see 4 max. with a chance of scoring.
I dunno, Tyler's been brutalised by the T-A sprints-
I’d advise diminutive Spaniards against trying to come around him…
Let me see...after a successful stage racing run that vaulted me something like 200 places...
I am looking to go back down to the depths of ignominy.
Meine Mannschaft includes
Peter Velits (please get 10th again…pretty pretty please)
Francesco Ginanni
Jackson Rodriguez (don’t crash)
Anthony Roux
Vincenzo Nibali
Roman Kreuziger
Jurgen Roelandts
Greg Van Avermaet (I am expecting something out of you Mr. 12th Place in T-A)
Lars Booooooooooooooooooooooom
And lead by EdvaldBH!!!
The fall will be far
the landing, rough,
the laughter raucous,
the pity nonexistant.
Have a nice day!
I'm with you
Especially since I just realized that Cofidis and Chicchi are out…
My powerful team of 3:
Nibali
Bouet
Rolland

Like my chances are much better? I gots crap!
Martin Elminger
Alberto Loddo
Andriy Grivko
George Hincapie
Marcus Burghardt
Maybe.
Racing for Victory and Free Beer!
The top 20 all score
So many people will get some points out of the race. Marcus Burghardt and Alberto Loddo could get in the top 20 in a group sprint. ? I know zero about Martin Elmiger. Is he the sort of designated sprinter on AG2R?
Elmiger was 9th in '06 and 12th last year so he is definitely capable of getting points...
plus he was 3rd in the Eroica last year and 9th in De Ronde so he is a sneaky rider

I feel pretty good – but mainly cause I just like those dudes. I have no grand dreams I actually built a good VDS team…just don’t wanna be the worst team out there.
Is Henderson in MSR? How about Greipel?
startlists,
Bah
