Fan of Dan - Tour of California Edition
Yes....it has happened.....the men's peloton want in....they want to be part of the Fan of Dan movement! Riders and participants of the 2010 Amgen Tour of California wanted to show their support of our very own crashdan.
We saw Mark Cavendish-HTC Columbia at the world premiere showing of "Chasing Legends" the day before stage 1 in Sacramento. Cavendish was hoping to meet you Dan.
Jens Voight-Saxo Bank, also at the "Chasing" Legend" showing:
Race announcer extraordinaire, Dave Towle:
Lucas Euser-Team SpiderTech powered by Planet Energy:
Davide Frattini and Thomas Rabou-Team Type 1. Rabou won the KOM jersey in a heroic ride to Big Bear.
Jeremy Vennell-Bissell:
Tom Boonen-Quick Step:
...and from the Time Trial stage in Los Angeles....I give you Jimbo + four gorgeous Fans of Dan:
The popularity of the Fan of Dan movement continues to grow.....
On a personal note....thanks to zoerochelle for your help at the "Chasing Legends" event. It was great meeting you and Nicole!!..and to Jimbo....it was absolutely fab hanging out with you in the AToC media workroom this past week. It was reading you, crashdan, Drew, Sui Juis, Jens, and Chris that kept me coming back to the Cafe...and of course, huge thanks to crashdan....for allowing me to have some fun with the Fan of Dan club. (smile)

...totally my fault.
He was smiling and chatty before and after I took the pic. I simply took a bad pic…ooops.
Ha! It is a great shot.
He’s here, really? Tell him I said hi. How’s he doing?--DZ, on being told Floyd Landis was present at the ToC.
she should've let me take the pic. I told her but she wouldn't be deterred.
Just kidding. She got a good one here though of Cav with my daughter and I.

(Yes, I am trying to steal Dan’s spotlight.)

we had a great time. It was all thanks to steph.
George Hincapie sat about 8 seats down from us in the same row to watch the movie. He came in after the lights went down and left before they came back on.

I don't particularly like the way he spouts off to the media
But I have always had the impression that in private he is a very nice guy. Seems like that’s what you’re saying as well.

ToB
Get him out of Belgium and he’s all yours.
by Chris Fontecchio on May 24, 2010 12:23 PM EDT up reply actions
He hasn't been to the ToB since 2006...grr
Actually, I have some British female friends who might put up a stern fight, but I think the Librarian Stare will put them in their place.
hm
well, he must need a pre-worlds routine this year. Can you make it to Spain? Or hey, Australia?
by Chris Fontecchio on May 24, 2010 3:05 PM EDT up reply actions
Spain...hmm, tempting. Australia...also tempting but less practical!
Or perhaps I should write to him extolling the virtues of our Sceptred Isle?
You will have Boonen Hotel, Aalst Crit :)

I have not forgotten! He tends to get mobbed in Belgium...but hopefully said hotel will be more peaceful ;)

Love the picture of Jens
It looks like he has one of those roman emperor thingies on his head.
Nothing is impossible when you work for the circus.
if you don't add the ! we are likely to think you mean our dear Jens, the live thread master.

Who is by no means an emperor of any kind
nor is there any need to raise his already abnormally high false feeling of importance.

Ah Jens
In a perfect world, we would all take pictures of ourselves (the big Jens! fans anyway) holding a little sign saying “Shut up legs!”

Apparently.
Not bad for a guy who not only doesn’t own a bicycle, but proclaims “I hate riding bicycles.” in his profile.
I know, I know. That is how hard I rock.

don't take that for granite
he’s a bit schisty, but still a gneiss guy in my book…

Not that this isn’t a fabulous post, but shouldn’t the boys be Fans of (as a suggestion, oh I don’t know, how about) CG and the girls Fans of Dan?
Just thinkin’ out loud here… :)

Dan....when Jens held the sign he said...
“I am happy to be a Fan of Dan!”….okay, how cool is Jens…..and Cavendish too…he thought it was quite amusing!!…though my crappy pic did not show it.
I asked the KOM boys of TT1 to give me a cute pose…since they were Fans of Dan.
it's JENS! how could you forget the exclamation point?

Kudos to Jimbo?
He made the massive effort of zstanding there holding a piece of paper surrounded by cute girls and this is something we have to applaud as well?
Yes
He was very brave to stand there and face the peril.
