"The New American in Paris"

Given all the Floyd news of late, here is an old story from the July, 2006 edition of Outside magazine. This was published after Floyd had won the inaugural ToC and Paris-Nice, but before he "won" the TdF and has some interesting insight into angry guy Floyd. If you are anything like me, a big former Floyd fan who resisted believing the guy was a doper until it all just got too fucking weird to stand any longer, this story will make you feel equal parts nostalgic and nauseous. Man, 2006 seems like a million years ago now, doesn't it?

equal parts

nostalgic and ill. I’m sure I’ll never know quite what to make of the guy.

I think this is telling...
“That’s Floyd all over,” Jonathan Vaughters says. "He’s exactly like Lance in that way—they’ve both got an angry core, a chip on their shoulder.

and also this comment by FL…

“I saw firsthand what Lance did, and it was superhuman,” he continues. “I saw how his system worked. It’s not necessary for me to be like Lance in every way. But there are some things that I want to take from that and use.”

What a fantastic read

Its sad seeing how chummy he was with Zabriskie, now that he’s accusing him of doping.

There were more than a few names in that article to be so vague.

There's a read that should be a little eye opening for some.

So much for believing in rider transparency. That’s why riders and teams who profess the loudest to be transparent and clean get my immediate suspicion.
