Can Holowesko/Garmin place Alex Howes on the podium? Does the UHC juggernaut continue to roll? This years race will bring forth a new overall champion since with the demise of Rock Racing, Francisco Mancebo will not be returning. 2008 edition winner Jeff Louder and PdC favorite Brent Bookwalter will on other assignments for BMC racing during August. I have it on good authority the Cole Sport is building specifically for this event (they ought to be they are local after all...) They recently competed at the Mt Hood Classic and will participate in the Cascade Classic as part of their build up. The Cole Sport lineup includes Olympic Nordic combined gold medalist Billy Demong. Another strong elite team is Hagens-Berman out of Seattle, winners of the team overall at Mt Hood. With nary a flat stage on the menu, this edition of the Tour of Utah promises to be a climbers party. Tour of Utah participants field teams of 8 riders. UCI regulations limiting rider participation of Pro and Pro Continental teams to 3 riders affect which teams choose to contest the Tour of Utah.
