This is very tricky... I'm amazed I found my way here :)

Longer and better without worrying about being 'first'... IFP are strange sometimes ;0
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
So the last weather forecast I saw
called for rain early, then dry. The teams that have put their guys with ambitions early won’t like that.
wasn't it scheduled to have dry roads mostly for the start, with rain really forecasted for the last hour? so, it's completely upside-down?
"Wizard's first rule. People are stupid. They will believe anything they want to be true or fear to be true." -- Terry Goodkind
From what I see, the rain will be done before the first rider is off
Tommeke!, Tommeke!, Tommeke!, Tommeke!
Wiggins took an early slot to avoid rain - might backfire?

Robbie Mcewen is crowing about those who bet on the early start... it's pissing down,
but meant to clear later.
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
that was his point precisely..

PNW, nice.
in my head you’re belgian simply bc of your member name.

Do you think that there'll be regulars who can't find this? I'm surprised i did...
Yes, I read how to the other day, but it still feels more like good luck than good management…
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
research the parcours!
with an 8 minute lead from the prologue, i don’t think the aussies can catch up!
Rodania,,,,,,,Rodania,,,,,,,Rodania,,,,,,,Rodania
It's already late... I don't even understand what you mean ;)
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
i was teasing.
you guys (the aussies) usually dominate the early comments on live threads. i unknowingly clicked on the link and posted the first comment, beating the usual winners.
Rodania,,,,,,,Rodania,,,,,,,Rodania,,,,,,,Rodania
Lou and i never compete to be first...ever...'yappy Aussies' is apocryphal...
Check… it’s the Brits, Dutch and Euros who do most of the early legwork ;)
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
I think that it will be fine...
This is the prologue so we can get the kinks worked out today before the real action begins tomorrow.
Tommeke!, Tommeke!, Tommeke!, Tommeke!
We'll see... I just worry about people like singhstax...stuck in beautiful Guyana..
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
no probs. it's on the front page after all. you just need to wait until the thread goes active and it highlights.
"Wizard's first rule. People are stupid. They will believe anything they want to be true or fear to be true." -- Terry Goodkind
But it's so small....

"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
starts early eh?
well
i’ll be back after the Argentina – Germany game.
this is easier than rbjhan i hope....
If a good conversation gets going, with the late start 5 threads is optimistic.
we could be at three or four threads before the race starts.

I still need an Schleckette tour win with a couple of stages followed by a Gesink Vuelta win
With Igor Anton is second and Rigoberto Uran in third, with Ryder Hesjedal Pulling a PhilGil in the october climby races in Italy.
So that I can Lose by Less!

Oh well I made about every bd decision you could make when compiling my team.
Probably should have just gone with my gut, but oh well that was the gut that told me Jen Grey would be a better pick than Basso. I should not have dumped Farrar to pick the guy I thought would win the Giro, Fail!!

The only man with a shaved head I trust is Stuey..
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
after toc stuey
became my favorite rider. after a fan event, stuey walks out onto the street with a bottle of wine and glass from the event. mad style that one. followed by cance, who upon getting outside with stuey yells, “Where in holy hell are we?” (they were in los gatos.)
Rodania,,,,,,,Rodania,,,,,,,Rodania,,,,,,,Rodania
Los Gatos always makes me think of Woody Guthrie... Stuey likes a bit of a party... that may be a euphemism
for a drink, or three…
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
I really, really hate shaved heads, although i understand the reasoning if you are bald(ish)..
For me, it seems aggressive and aesthetically it’s a big no for me. I’d rather have Karpets and his mullet :)

What sort of feud are you envisaging?
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
One between me and the
marketing drones at Versus.
Or perhaps a feud between Vino and Lance to see who can be the most independent support rider for Alberto.
Vlaanderens Mooiste
Vino is going to be awesome here... final step in his road to redemption (in his eyes) I suspect.
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
My prediction
is that he proves himself to be a better support rider than HWMNBN.
Vlaanderens Mooiste
Well if he gives one bidon to Alberto, then he has accomplished this...
Tommeke!, Tommeke!, Tommeke!, Tommeke!
Hardly a challenge... but i think he'll be heroic... perhaps not always advisedly..

It does.
I think I need to do lots of reading tomorrow, so I know what the hell I’m doing next week.
I'm teaching new courses this semester, so I'll be doing the same thing.
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
I'm teaching the same course,
but I’m prepping to do a short podcast of reading notes for each chapter.
Not sure exactly how stupid this idea is, but I plan on learning from my mistakes.
Vlaanderens Mooiste
That could be good... I still like reading, but students love podcasts and CD's of novels...
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
Oh, they still have to read the chapters
and write reflections on each,
I just wanted to give them some writing prompts and point out which bits are arguments and which bits are evidence. You know, give them a little nudge towards deeper reading and learning.
Vlaanderens Mooiste
Sounds fantastic. What are they reading?
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
Everything is Miscellaneous
by David Weinberger. It’s a class on research methods and information architecture.
Vlaanderens Mooiste
'Information architecture' is a new term for me...
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
It has to do with
database and metadata structures, search engine operations, the way we organize and find things.
Vlaanderens Mooiste
Okay... I'd need a podcast for that.... thanks.
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'

In terms of whining about Vs, I’ll get over it, but it is still fresh and painful (gimme a day). I started watching TdF during the years without Lance, so last year was a shock to me. I used to really like Paul/Phil/Bob and could deal with the cheesiness. It’s a whole different thing with LA in the race, from the way they edit the race to their tone.
