The Women's Side Of The Mt Hood Classic
With the bigest names either in Oklahoma or at The Liberty Classic, and three big races on the eastern seaboard in three weeks, the 2010 Mt Hood Classic nearly had to cancel the woman's race. At the eleventh hour 53 ladies signed up. Given the marginal weather, it was great to see a field of 47 take the start at the Mount Adams Road race. With races on the road concurrently, giving the women equal time was difficult. So, this post is for all the ladies that came and braved the courses at this years race. The women's race used the same courses as the men's race over shorter distances. With the course wet and slippery it was decided to neutralize the Stage 5 criterium for the women. They were given the option to take the start. In a steady rain 25 women rolled to the line, 17 finished. Molly Van Houweling (Metromint Cycling) took GC honors with a final time gap of 1:01 over second place.

Thanks for the gallery!
If you don't have time to do it right the first time, when are you going to have time to do it again?
I feel like I ought to have done more for them.
They were so off schedule with the men, there was no way to make both races happen. Mens Pro went first and women last, after all the other cats.
have you supported your local race photographer today?
Why not? It's cheap, easy and you might win something.......
