Good morning. I'm rather excited

Kinda feel sorry for the sprinters. As if today wasn’t bad enough, have some cold rain and wind!

Having said that, considering JJ IS a sprinter, he’s not actually been in the Gruppetto once this Tour ;)

The Polka dots should come into play

I can imagine BBox trying to f*** up Moreau’s challenge by getting people off to steal points.

Yep

Caisse may try the same tactic if Moreau can’t get up there which then means RS will stalk them because of the teams.

Day after restday + completely different weather. Some people are going to pay the price.

Normally I'd be working from home on a day like this

But the office is full of Eurosport TVs and I’ve got leaving drinks planned for this evening.

Today is going to be a big bag of win. Procycleracing™, lots of drink with mates and very little work to do.

British ES getting into quite a debate about chaingate

Stephen Roche and Rob Hayles don’t agree. James is sort of on the fence really.

So does Astana use AC's domestiques to just mark Andy's promised attacks...

…And allow AC to pace himself up the Tourmalet?

Or does Astana drive the pace to blunt these attacks in the first place?

What do you guys/girls think? (I say the former)

by Doctornurse7 on Jul 22, 2010 6:53 AM EDT reply actions

Astana need to do nothing today other than mark Schleck and maybe Menchov.

By the time Andy starts attacking, all the domestiques will hae been shed, save Vino. I think it will have been Astana that’s done the shedding, even if Saxo were capable of doing it, which they prolly aren’t.

I guess the whole “Chain-gate” has had an effect on these situations. But…like I said before, where do you put the limit? Do you wait or even ditch your plans because a rider had bad luck? Are you gonna wait for everyone? Cervelo, up to Sanchez’s fall, was trying to move the race preparing Sastre’s attack. I agree the timing might have come across as a bit weird, but I personally don’t find anything objectionable to it.

Dear IFP, what I meant was: “You weren’t being rude, in my opinion,” jokingly said in the words of his avatar, Iñigo Montoya from The Princess Bride (1987).

i believe it is always the discretion of the peloton. for better or worse, they make the call.

I think this is the worst news

(Sammy) that I could wake up to. He’s been one of my favorites since he won that long break down the mountains in the Vuelta in 07. Does anyone else remember him going so fast down hill that his chain broke and he handed it to the cameraman?

Heh! Yes!

Hopefully he’s just sore and can push onwards. Slightly worrying with Tourmalet ahead though :(

I think Frank held Andy back last year

But, I think Andy matured a lot and wouldn’t have tried to drag Frank on the podium at the expense of winning this year.

Frank and Andy always try to keep in contact with each other

They were doing it all spring too.

I am not saying they would have done it during the Tour this year though.
