Bad news as Cervélo will not make the trip across the Atlantic for the two Canadian events.

It seems it's too costly for Cervélo to make the trip (50000 euros) and that the race promoters don't want to pay Cervélo as much as they would like.

According to Serge Arseneault (race promoter), Cervélo was to bring a very disappointing team (he called it a C team), but wanted the same privileges as the ProTour teams, something Arseneault was not ready to give especially considering the riders (Rollin excepted) that were planned. He was ready to pay for Cervélo's expenses while they were in Québec, but not for the travel itself.

Rollin could still be there if he makes special arrangements to be with the Canadian National Team (managed by Steve Bauer)

It is somewhat surprising (Cervélo is a Canadian company after all), but I have only one thing to say: BAH!

total BS if you ask me. of course i don’t run a pro conti team, but come on, you’re a canadian company, this is a canadian PT event. work it out.

Bah indeed.

“C” team? It’s pretty hard to find 9 riders on Cervello to make up a “C” team. There will be a fair number of Cervelos Spanish riders at the Vuelta as well as maybe HH, Thor and a couple others prepping for Worlds.

unless C stands for cervelo. but seriously, any team with Dom on it will crush the field. who’s the canadian national team bringing?

i'd be willing to bet you take any 9 cervelo riders

on any course, and 8 of them would finish before the first canadian national team rider.

I doubt that...seeing as Martin Gilbert beat Thor in the final sprint in Missouri last year

and he is on SpiderTech. Don’t knock them because they are a “National Team”. Put in David Veilliux, Gilbert and Guillaume Boivin and those guys would beat a C team from Cervelo. Just because they are pro conti, doesn’t mean every rider is good like Correia or Novoa

it wasn't a knock on the national team

more like fanboy-ism towards cervelo.

the so-called long list of riders for the Canadian team has been named and includes

Will Routley, David Veilleux and more and a slew of Spidertech riders (More info here)

I didn't race promoters paid travel costs?

I knew they had to pay room and board during the race. Are paying travel costs up to the promoters?

For most races, I have no idea

I just read that for those 2 races, they are paying for the ProTour teams.

Can be roughly translated as: Contrarily to the ProTour team for which the transportation and lodging fees are paid by the promoters, the ProContinental teams like Cervélo don’t have access to the same services.

so who's going to be there?

btw the finish is on Parc no? Don’t they come down toward downtown and then u-turn back up? I just walked up there a couple of days ago for the first time in a while, man that finish is tailor-made for Gilbert (hell the whole race is perfect for him) if he wants it

Rumoured but not confirmed:

Heard in the TDF broadcast here: Fédrigo, Chavanel, Barry, Meier, Tuft

Read somewhere earlier this week (rds.ca): Cancellara

man this could be a super-fun race

all these French guys are attackers and the course is perfect for it.

Would be nice to see Meier get a nice result
