Grand Prix Cycliste de Montréal in only six weeks!!
MatheiuG has started discussing team/rider (non) selection, but I wanted to formally invite all of you to attend the first Protour race in North America (after the Quebec city one).
Here you can see the city's commitment to this race as they re-pave pretty much every stretch of road on the course. The race will come down and to the right before looping around to the start/finish line before coming back through this shot heading up to the left for the 2km climb of the Camilien-Houde
via lisareports.com
This is the lookout on the Camillien-Houde right where the climb kicks up to ~12% about 500m from the top. After tackling another short climb they will fly down Chemin Cote Ste Catherine (seen in the first pic) before tackling the uphill drag in front of the statue George-Etienne Cartier Statue.
After the race I will (depending on my work schedule) guide or direct the out-of towners, and locals to the best poutine place in Montreal. Where they serve over 25 varieties of heart-stopping goodness and a nice variety of local beers.

No hotel in montreal yet!
But I have 2 nights booked in Quebec and Mom watching the Kiddies (excepting the Fresh One) for four days. Anybody recommend a nice hotel very near the race course (near enough for the Wife to take the Fresh One for a nap if need be) a couple of blocks from the course should be fine. We have been looking at the possibly of the Marriot but I am open to other suggestions!

The Wife is not a fan of B&B's so probably not.
I don’t know if the start finish or one of the climbs would be a better place to watch the race from. We will be watching at the rue de montagne in Quebec and so will not see the finish, maybe it will be nice to see the finish in Montreal.

It’s pretty easy to get from the start/finish to the climb and back again. Which is my plan. I did the same for the womens world cup a few years ago, and this race will be a fair bit longer.
it's my plan as well
Look for the orange Podium Cafe flag… yes, the same one that was seen Flanders this spring (and a big thanks to celerity!)
Anyone knows the parcours?
Based on the pictures its relatively flat. A group sprint at the finish?
If I wanted to get shit small wins, I'd race shit small races (Cavendish on Greipel)
There is not usually a bunch sprint on this course.
4464 metres total climbing over 16 laps. Lyne Lamoureux has the maps and profile at:

I intend to do a full photo recon of the Montréal parcours
Once I HTFU and decide to try my climbing legs.
yes, but I could use the climbing training
And taking pictures is a very good excuse to stop while climbing.
Me? Tired? No, no, I’m just taking pictures. I could climb this thing in 5 minutes. If I wanted. But not now, because I’m taking pictures!
New pavement?
In Montreal?
[MathieuG slowly climbs back up into his chair]
Mr Mayor? Can the race pass in front of my house next year? My street could use some road work…
nice try Jens, nice try
but this is a lot bester
