The very nice Wielerland.nl transfer overview
Has Alex-Dowsett coming over from the Trek-Livestrong team.
All transfers can be found here
Robert Gesink on the difference between football and cycling: "For us it's a lot harder to get yellow"
From Alex's twitter...
As much as I’d like to spill, nothing is certain for next year yet, as soon as I know, you’ll all know. 12:10 PM Aug 23rd via ÜberTwitter
http://twitter.com/alexdowsett
I just noticed that.
Surprising for a team with a troubled season. I would assume their big names were signed for at least a year, so I wouldn’t expect a ton of activity. But they have plenty of plugs to fill
Also, Sky, please resign Russell Downing and let him into some bigger races this year.

If they don't re-sign Russ
they’re fools. But as for bigger races, well. I thought they might ride for him & not Henderson in the ToB but no.
"I was just trying to keep warm" - Ian Stannard on finishing third in KBK
Were i him, I'd think twice I suspect..

Because I'd ream of riding more big races and not being Plan D

Thanks for this

You missed him on CTT. Probably going to Rabobank if what I read in the paper is right (like that’ll ever happen…).
Jaoa Correia will retire I guess. It was great of CTT to give him a chance (promising results at youth level, quit cycling later, grew very fat, started to work as a representative for a cycling firm and got into shape again). His results this year were mediocre at best so I think it is game over there. His story is one of the reasons I’ll miss the Cervelo team!
Robert Gesink on the difference between football and cycling: "For us it's a lot harder to get yellow"
He rode for US teams for a year or two before CTT picked him up. He could go back to that...
And he was a helper through and through. So I don’t think pointing to his CQ Ranking is really fair. His job wasn’t results. He was job to help others.
(I don’t know if he was good at that job or not.)

Hard to tell indeed
CQ is just an indication. The amount of DNS’s and DNF’s were not a good sign imho. But I could of course be wrong. Still, at 35 there must be younger domestiques on the market…
Robert Gesink on the difference between football and cycling: "For us it's a lot harder to get yellow"
Apparently Huzarski isn't going to Lampre...CCC is in negotiations with him, Niemic from Miche and Golas from Vacansoleil
They are actually doing some good things and applying for the passport program and signed Rutkiewicz too
Also the other 2 Masciarelli bros. from Acqua e Sapone are going to be leaving the team at the end of the year and joining a “big european team” but its probably going to be Astana from what I have seen.
J-Rod is trying to get his training partner from Caisse, Alberto Losado, to Katusha…Landbouwkrediet signed 2 Lithuanians, Aidis Kruopis and Edijidius Juodvalskis and Amorison might be leaving to Verandas Willems who are looking to go Pro. Conti.
Tommeke!, Tommeke!, Tommeke!, Tommeke!
Just one thing..
AAMOOORISSOON. Which team doesn’t want such a King! for a new Pro. Conti
And you could be right about the Masciarelli’s.. Altho their results are not that hot
Big news.
Especially for Farrar…
I really do not understand the truth.--Riccardo Ricco (per Google Translate)
Yeah...I still don't know what to think of this.
I mean come TdF time what the hell is going to happen.

Hushovd says he went to Garmin because they could give him the best support in the classics.
Maybe that’s the tradeoff: Hushovd #1 for classics, Farrar #1 for Tour? Don’t know, though. Thor was still very competitive for green this year, and won it just a year ago. But almost inconceivable to think of Farrar not being the top sprinter for the Tour.
I really do not understand the truth.--Riccardo Ricco (per Google Translate)
In the video interview from the same site
he says that he will be the main man “in the big races” and “we’ll see about the sprints” . Then when asked specifically about sprints he says he hasn’t signed to be a leadout-man and then he repeats the phrase " I’m going to be the main man in the big races and that’s what’s most important for me"
So I think the tradeoff you mention is there
Thanks!
When is Google Translate going to work on audio, anyway?
I really do not understand the truth.--Riccardo Ricco (per Google Translate)
That site usually transcribes most of the quotes from the video up top
but in this case the most telling is how you can see Thor mumbling and looking in all directions but the interviewer when asked about the sprints.
Garmin looking good for Classics next year
Thor, Maaskaant, Van Summeren, Farrar, Millar
If they also get Klier and Hammond, that is one hell of a squad for April.
"Thanks again, Floyd Landis, Yellow Jersey Wearer: Nuisance Category"
Yeaaah, about Farrar. I don't think he will be riding Roubaix next year.
If the rumors are true, then I can see the team being Hushovd, Hammond, Klier, Lancaster, Hunt, Maaskant, Van Summeren and Millar. Farrar can have the Scheldeprijs and G-W but Hushovd might demand sole leadership for MSR, De Ronde and Roubaix.
Tommeke!, Tommeke!, Tommeke!, Tommeke!
by Vlaanderen90 on Aug 30, 2010 3:48 PM EDT up reply actions
Farrar for Roubaix, no. He can do RVV and win the sprint after the leaders.
And I think Thor has the palmares to demand sole leadership.
P-R okay
but if they don’t use Farrar in De Ronde they are certifiable. He was 5:th this year for chrissakes. Thor was 57:th and DNF in 2009.
He's never going to win it though. He can make it over the hills to finish first behind the main contenders.
But it’ll always be behind the main contenders.
I don't buy that
If you are on a team like he will be and you get a year that gets tactical, leaders staring each other down he could totally win it. Plus I think he is getting stronger.
Do you think Thor can win RVV though?
2004: 38th
2005: 31st
2006: 14th
2007: 60th
2008: 27th
2009: DNF (sprinting for 3rd)
2010: 57th
In RVV, I like my odds much better with Farrar. Sure, if Thor focused solely on RVV, he can maybe do better than his results, but he is always going to put all of his efforts into Roubaix.
"Thanks again, Floyd Landis, Yellow Jersey Wearer: Nuisance Category"
So what makes Farrar a better pick?
Your going to have to wait for a bunch sprint for him to be successful and even then it is a crapshoot if you have EBH or whoever else in there. Farrar should learn how to attack first before we start tipping him for RVV.
Tommeke!, Tommeke!, Tommeke!, Tommeke!
by Vlaanderen90 on Aug 30, 2010 4:06 PM EDT up reply actions
But can't the exact same thing be said about Thor?
Badger, badger, badger, badger, badger, badger...
by TheFigurehead on Aug 30, 2010 4:09 PM EDT up reply actions
True but Thor has followed the lead groups and followed key moves before
just his bike handling skills have failed him. He has just never had much luck or good fortune at RVV
Tommeke!, Tommeke!, Tommeke!, Tommeke!
by Vlaanderen90 on Aug 30, 2010 4:14 PM EDT up reply actions
But we know Thor can ride the sprint classics, we know he can climb fairly well, and we know he can handle the cobbles.
The fact that he doesn’t rule RVV is a bit odd.
Listen to his interviews
He doesn’t give a shit about RVV, his focus is 99% Roubaix and i do’t believe he will approach Flanders as anything other than warmup until he has won P-R.
No, I don't think Thor is the man for RVV. But neither is Tyler, as far as I can see.
He’s never battled for the hills yet.
You don't put stock into last year's fifth place?
I agree, that most years Tyler (and thor) will be battling for scraps in RVV, but I still think Tyler is the better option.
"Thanks again, Floyd Landis, Yellow Jersey Wearer: Nuisance Category"
No, I don't. Because he never featured in the race.
He never made the race, he never attacked. He survived and won the bunch sprint, and I don’t remember the last time the race was won in the bunch sprint. Someone is always going to attack and break the bunch up. I put more stock into Millar’s 2010 performance than I do Tyler’s (not that Millar is ever going to win it, imho).
Not that I think arrar isn’t good (he is), or that his Dutch isn’t absolutely adorable (it is), but I don’t think RVV is the race for him. Not on the basis of what he’s shown so far.
Mario Cipollini once won a bunch sprint in RVV (2002), about 2'35 back of the winner...
He also was competitive in G-W . Seems similar to Farrar.
Tommeke!, Tommeke!, Tommeke!, Tommeke!
by Vlaanderen90 on Aug 30, 2010 4:23 PM EDT up reply actions
To be fair...
He DNFed after crashing in the sprint for third place
by quarantanamo on Aug 30, 2010 3:57 PM EDT up reply actions
Okay but your taking that DNF out of context because he was in the sprint for 3rd but was crashed into the barriers.
Yeah that is racing but at worst he would have been around 5th or 6th, just like Farrar. So if he has a proper build-up and doesn’t have problems again like this year, I can see it as him as leader and Farrar as the dark hose
Tommeke!, Tommeke!, Tommeke!, Tommeke!
by Vlaanderen90 on Aug 30, 2010 3:58 PM EDT up reply actions
Right, I forgot
but the fact remains that as long as he hasn’t won P-R he is always going into RVV halfheartedly. You don’t win RVV halfheartedly.
Though you don't have to be the strongest on the day to win RVV, sometimes just the luckiest and have the best tactics
Tommeke!, Tommeke!, Tommeke!, Tommeke!
by Vlaanderen90 on Aug 30, 2010 4:02 PM EDT up reply actions
I don't really know why I'm arguing this
because I don’t believe in the basic premise that you need (or should have) 1 outright leader in RVV or P-R. Hushovd, Farrar, Maaskant could very well go into the race with equal status.
The one I think has most issues with this concept is Thor who is brought up as a sprinter where the hierarchy matters more, and also he’s from my westerly neighbor-country “The Home of the Daft”
Well Maaskant is the weak link there btw...Hasn't done much since '08.
Hushovd and Haussler worked well together so if he and Farrar can do the same thing then kudos but they might be too similar to be a good 1-2 punch in the classics.
Tommeke!, Tommeke!, Tommeke!, Tommeke!
by Vlaanderen90 on Aug 30, 2010 4:16 PM EDT up reply actions
He sorta got run over by his own teamcar this year.
That can’t help.
Also:
5/04/2009 1.PT1 [Bel] 4 Ronde van Vlaanderen
Right, the "400 year night" is over
(thank you wikipedia for teaching me what 12 years in school could not)
Hushovd and Haussler shared races just fine
Hushovd was the captain. Haussler was the wild card with a free hand. And both ended up with great results.
It’s not like Farrar has to kill himself for Hushovd. Play the 1-2 punch
"Oh man, it’s going to take days to kill all these people!"

Help!
Quote from Thor:
Får med meg 6 andre fra Cervélo Test Team
Six others from Cervelo coming with him?
I really do not understand the truth.--Riccardo Ricco (per Google Translate)
It is changed now
But to “many”.
Badger, badger, badger, badger, badger, badger...
by TheFigurehead on Aug 30, 2010 2:02 PM EDT up reply actions
That is what it means yes
but where is it from? The Figurehead’s link only says “I get to take many supportriders I have on Cervélo with me”
The statement Thor sent to his fanpage
Varm dag igjen, gjør løpet mer slitsomt! Satt greit med frem til siste fjell, så tok jeg det med ro i bussen. Ny hard dag i morra!
I really do not understand the truth.--Riccardo Ricco (per Google Translate)
Google Translate gives:
Warm days ahead, make the course more tiring! Set smoothly with up to the mountains, so I took it easy in the bus. New hard day tomorrow! Will also confirm that I have now signed for Garmin. The team I think can give me the best support during the classics. Get me six others from the Cervélo Test Team. Glad decision look forward to cycling on perhaps the best team next year …
I really do not understand the truth.--Riccardo Ricco (per Google Translate)
If he gets 6 others then the team will be totally filled up for next year along with Le Mevel and 4 neo-pro's.
And if CQ has it right, the following wouldn’t be coming back: Cozza, Hunter, Meier, Cam Meyer, Pate, Peterson, Tuft and Wilson.

by Vlaanderen90 on Aug 30, 2010 2:10 PM EDT up reply actions
Well his two year neo-pro contract is up and I am just going by what the Hushovd statement said
Because I am having a hard time seeing them giving up him, Pate and Tuft.

Ricardo Van der Velde is't coming back for sure--he said so on Twitter.
And Trent Lowe signed with Pegasus.
I really do not understand the truth.--Riccardo Ricco (per Google Translate)
So what do we think this tweet from van der Velde means?
Some ‘people’ should be treaten beter than they do before they start a ‘thing’ togheter! At least have faith in what you once believed in
He got cut weeks ago--tweeted about it in mid-August
so he may be upset on someone else’s behalf?
Officially looking for a new team!
4:50 PM Aug 15th via UberTwitter
I really do not understand the truth.--Riccardo Ricco (per Google Translate)
Pretty sure it's about himself
(and maybe someone else in the same position as himself?)
Hard to tell if it was deserved or not. He’s had a shocker of a season results-wise and he has DNFd a lot too. Unless he has a very valid reason it’s hard to see from the outside why he should be assured of contract for next year but granted, there is a lot you can’t tell from the outside. He might have a legitimate gripe.
So has Lowe, although his health has been the cause.
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
Then I wonder what sparked it now?
He didn’t seem terribly happy back when he first found out he wasn’t coming back, but he also tweeted some nice stuff about the team.
I really do not understand the truth.--Riccardo Ricco (per Google Translate)
maybe he could handle just him leaving
but he’s peeved by the larger firings/non-renewals that are necessary to accomodate the large number of CTT riders.
That's quite a list if true
Badger, badger, badger, badger, badger, badger...
by TheFigurehead on Aug 30, 2010 2:13 PM EDT up reply actions
There was also a report the other day that the Le Mevel contract hadn't been signed yet
VeloNation, but they aren’t always on the money:
right now, that spot is tentatively in the hands of FdJ’s Christophe le Mevel, who was supposed to have signed already, but hasn’t
I really do not understand the truth.--Riccardo Ricco (per Google Translate)
I doubt they'd sign him
knowing they have such little space
"You know if there's any contact at all Cristiano Ronaldo's gonna go down...maybe even just a puff of wind"
It was supposedly done a while ago, so goes the rumors, and was supposed to be the first signing they had
but maybe that never happened.

I thought the neo-pros had been put on hold?
(as well as Le Mevel)
"I was just trying to keep warm" - Ian Stannard on finishing third in KBK
Gabriel Rasch is one of them
I’m pretty sure of it, Hushovd said the other day that he really wanted to take Rasch with him. OK, that was after a direct question about Gabriel, but still.
Badger, badger, badger, badger, badger, badger...
by TheFigurehead on Aug 30, 2010 2:13 PM EDT up reply actions
I'm pretty sure Haussler is not
Thor keeps saying “supportriders” (hjelperyttere) about the ones he “brings with him” and I doubt he would put HH in that category?
I agree
And it’s too bad that they add Johan Kaggestad’s speculations to the article.
Badger, badger, badger, badger, badger, badger...
by TheFigurehead on Aug 30, 2010 2:50 PM EDT up reply actions
Well, HH was trying to lead Thor out in the 2009 MSR...
I really do not understand the truth.--Riccardo Ricco (per Google Translate)
And that's where HH earned his right not to be a support rider
Haussler has said half the reason he started giving a shit is the chance to work for riders like Hushovd. Little did he know that once he started giving a shit that he would be too good to be a support rider.

Lancaster definitely
Hunt and Hammond are solid but both getting up there. Garmin dropping lots of young talent to take on a ton of oldies? And Thor is only signed for one year…..
That Velonation article up top mentioned something about some of the neo-pros who signed
might be bumped down to the amateur team for next year though I don’t know if that is going to happen because then another team might try to snap them up. I have a feeling that there won’t be 6 guys going…and I didn’t say Lancaster because of Fly-V/Pegasus.

Nothing new there.
30 riders means at least 2 neo-pros, but that’s the way the rules have been for at least a few years.
I really do not understand the truth.--Riccardo Ricco (per Google Translate)
Right, but it means probably at least 1 of the Holewskos should go Garmin
Joe Lindsey has a good rundown
Or Navardauskas, who has had amazing results, and both the Holowesko's are shafted
though I think Fairly is probably safe since that signing was announced in the press, unlike Howes.

It's not rocket science--it's simple arithmetic.
CQ has the best rundown there, with lists of who is currently under contract at Garmin and whose contract expires this year. But I haven’t attempted to verify their info, so I can’t swear by it.
I really do not understand the truth.--Riccardo Ricco (per Google Translate)
Question - Are Garmin and Cervelo
officially “merging”, or is cervelo “closing down” and going across as a sponsor? Haven’t seen anything that tells me one way or the other for sure (but have been on limited internet access since the news broke). It would certainly be the cheapest way out of the gig for cervelo to merge – no redundancies etc.
Only ask (and I accept I could be talking out of the wrong hole here) but if they are merging then what we call in UK the TUPE regulations may apply (UK name for a EC wide directive and similar laws apply in switzerland also) and it could end up being a case of having to take certain riders want them or not, and certain garmen would end up having to make way for some cervelo riders.
Closing down I assume
Legally that is the only option that makes sense. Judging by the reactions from Deignan for instance , I think it’s safe to assume they close down the company behind CTT.
All things being equal
One would have to give the Tour nod to the stage and Maillot Vert winner and perennial contender.
This is one for the lower levels which might interest no one but me.
But Jasper Stuyven has signed for PWS Eijssen.
Seems like that is a good progression for him

Oh Fabian. Please stay, or go to a team I like.
I’d absolutely hate it if he ended up at HTC, the Shack, BMC or Sky. Gah!
I'm pulling for Team Lux, so he gets to stay with the Schlecks, Jens!, and Stuey
and whoever else they’re bringing with them.
I really do not understand the truth.--Riccardo Ricco (per Google Translate)
I don't get why Fabian would want to go with the Schlecks or stay with Riis
He has to be a bit tired of playing the domestique roll every July. Other than prologues and TTs, he never really gets to go for stage wins or ride for himself . I would love to see him go to a team with no real GC threat, so Fabian can unleash his powers throughout the tour, not just the opening stage and final time trial.
"Thanks again, Floyd Landis, Yellow Jersey Wearer: Nuisance Category"
Had Sunderland stayed with Sky
I would have put every penny I owned that he would end up there but now I don’t know. I think FC is pretty appreciative of the professional support at Saxo and won’t go unless he knows the new team is on the same level, not just in terms of riders.
Eh?
They always spend energy in order to defend his inevitable yellow jersey rather than just giving it away.
exactly. works best for both parties if the Schlecks and Fabian stay divorced in my opinion

I was just replying to this bit:

It’s not like he’s being full on domestique in the first week. Just after he loses the yellow jersey.
It's a good point
but I like the marriage anyway… bah divorse here.

Yes, and I want to see that every year
"Thanks again, Floyd Landis, Yellow Jersey Wearer: Nuisance Category"
I think he's just as likely doing it for personal fulfillment
I think he has an unually finely tuned sense of his own potential. I think he’s incredibly hungry for anything he decides really can win, but he’s totally uninterested in the ones that he can’t reasonably win. Secondly, he’s very into the give-and-take; he actually takes pride in being a superdomestique for those who will return the favor on “his” days and stages. Whether he forsees that sort of rapport and engagement with the new guys can’t be known, of course.
I'm another vote for Team Lux
Like others have mentioned (esp. Seahorse) Fabian working for Contador just doesn’t sit well with me. Not sure why, but there it is.
I think BMC would be a good option
Classics support and he could do his usual at the tour.

that I’m going to put him on my VDS. I had him last year and he scored well throughout the season. This year, he’s not done well.
Of course, I’ll change my mind again if he wins Lombardia!
Two more too Movistar: Daniel Diaz and Luciano Pagliarini
Diaz is a stagiaire at Footon now and has had decent results…Pagliarini was part of the failed Teltek H20 team and then went back to Brazil to join the Scott team that ended up not paying their riders so its good he is getting back to Europe
Also Vannieuwkerke, the sporza announcer among other things, mentioned something about Weylandt going to Rabobank which might make sense if Nuyens was headed for Quick Step…one underachieving rider for another with both being pretty damn good when they show up.

Lancaster a sprint train-man / Porte GC. Maybe on a personal level…. but not much compatibility riding-wise.
Lancaster was very friendly to Porte when he was making the hop over to Italy last year
and Lancaster invited him to his house in dinner and the was a sort of mentor thing going on there and was able to help with some of the hard things. It will be nice to see Garmin-Cervelo (Team GC) race to win every spring classic.
Why would they all have to be leaders at only the big races? Why should a few chosen riders spread themselves out so thinly for the whole classics season. Give them all different targets and begin the assault on the classics. If they all stay healthy they can have at least three riders ready to win at RVV and PR.
Who said they were going to do that?
I really don’t think the spring is going to be a problem for team harmony.

I'll assume that you are talking about
…all have to be the leaders at only the big races.
Up thread the conversation was trying to figure out how Thor and Tyler were going to survive on the same team. Now they have at least five guys who could be leaders on different teams for the big races, I think they all know enough that they increase their own chances of winning if they are riding on the strongest team.
Haussler Quote
"There are no problems expected with Tyler, not at all. He’s an easy guy to get along with. At this stage in my life, I realise that I’m not really one for the sprints. I might go for the green jersey at the Tour, but the classics are really my main goal."
He’s saying a lot in not a lot of words.
"Oh man, it’s going to take days to kill all these people!"
by lieutenantmudd on Sep 1, 2010 8:18 AM EDT up reply actions
Tyler lives in Belgium for other reasons than he wants to be a sprinter.
He may have made a mistake if he assumes Tyler is a sprinter first. But at the same time Tyler has a tattoo on his forearm written in Sanskrit, “May all be happy” is the translation I’m fairly sure. So he is probably accurate that Tyler is easy to get along with.
My guess is that Thor will be the only one guaranteed leadership for PR while the rest will have the opportunity to earn their leadership through performance and other factors. Hopefully no one ends up feeling like they got screwed.
Wasn't Tyler Farrar's breakout season largely due to realizing he is more a sprinter than a classics man?
I think he’s a great prospect for the classics too, but I think his #1 focus should be sprinting

I really do not understand the truth.--Riccardo Ricco (per Google Translate)
He may not even make the team ;)
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
you may be right
If Garmin make the green jersey a goal, where does Tyler fit in with the TdF team? Unlike the classics where you can have multiple leaders, the green jersey has to have a singular leader. Tyler can’t be stealing points from Thor or HH by finishing ahead of them in a sprint.
Garmin is in a tough spot now with their TdF team. If they keep focusing on sprint wins, and as long as Cav is racing, it’s going to be hard for Garmin to ever win a stage. And with just 5-10th place GC talent, they are never going to climb for a stage win. Their only hope for a stage win is to race in breaks, but they don’t really do that anymore because of Tyler and the team wants to pull everything back for a bunch sprint finish they haven’t proven they can win.
"Thanks again, Floyd Landis, Yellow Jersey Wearer: Nuisance Category"
I suspect that Farrar will end up on a European team sooner rather than later...
Garmin is suddenly a much stronger team, but some of the casualties will be unexpected.
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
Do you think that it's a better fit for HH than Tyler.
There is talk of another Aussie organization going for ProTour next year, maybe Tyler fits better there for 2012 despite the fact that the contract for HH may be for only one year and definitely just one for Thor.
Resistance is futile, drink the kool-aid.
I hate HH being at Garmin... and Lancaster, but they have jobs, so that's excellent...
At this rate, with the Meyers and Bobridge etc., perhaps it will become the de facto Australian team anyway…although until recently that honour would have gone to HTC.
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
I'm sorry, what makes Hushovd and HH better green jersey competitors than Farrar long term?
I think Garmin needs more discipline and experience in the final KM. I think Farrar is plenty fast enough to win TdF stages and the green jersey one day.
Sure, Cavendish is faster. But faster doesn’t win every time.

I suggest that we should like Rabo despite any negative press in the recent years, if nothing else, because they have been a sponsor for so long that not only tries hard to perennially field good men’s teams, but also funds a female team and a feeder team.

Gah. Been trying to figure out what the UCI rules say.
On the one hand, this is what it says in the Pro Conti section of the rules:
1. The Rider may terminate the present contract, without notice nor liability:
…
c) if the Employer or a principal partner withdraws from the professional continental team and the continuity of the professional continental team is not guaranteed or else if the professional continental team announces its dissolution, the winding up of its activities or its inability to meet its commitments; should the announcement be made for a given date, the Rider shall continue to perform the contract until that date.
BUT, there is this about mergers in the ProTour section…then again, since it’s in the PT section shouldn’t it apply just to the PT riders?
In no case may a rider move to another team before the expiry of the term with his current paying agent as stipulated in the contract – even if that contract does not run its full term – unless he has prior authorisation from the president of the UCI ProTour council.
In the case of a merger between UCI ProTeams or between a UCI ProTeam and a professional continental team, the present provision shall apply to riders of the merged entity who have changed paying agent.
They don’t cover PT/ProConti mergers in the ProConti contract section, at least that I can find. But the UCI stuff gives me headaches if I stare at it too long.
The Muur is my bitch--Albertina
Or just general labour law?
Wasn’t that suggested earlier around here, with the caveat that it would probably be more complicated than that because of CTT being Swiss-registered?
Ceci n'est pas une signature.
If any of that is to be viewed as having any substance though
then the future of Davide Appollonio will be relevant – Cervelo neo pro with a two year contract. Whither?
Personal contract makes sense
they have to promote Cervelo next year, and that leaves their hands completely tied.

I can see an argument for progression but after 4 years he should of at least had a race, besides ‘07 Poland, where he could bust out for a podium.
Boom hasn’t been as sharp in his 2nd full year…It might have been better for him to go to HTC because at least he could learn how to become a winner in the PT peloton but that’s left to be seen.

He's now regularly getting his ass kicked by Degenkolb, so Rabo will be just the team for him ;)
But I see what you mean. I was watching a video lately of Gesink winning the Settimana Lombarda at 19 years old, and I have to admit that I thought: wait, this guy really is a winner, why don’t we get to see any of that? But he’s been so awfully close a few times… eventually it will have to pan out.

That's excellent news!

Cameron Wurf... an Australian youngster is going to Liqui. Great news..

Seems like a very good workhorse...CN highlighted something about him dropping back from the big Giro break, most likely waiting on the side of the road, and then driving the peloton for 100km
to bring down the gap. Glad to see him on a bigger squad

It's exciting... and you're right I think. He's a workhorse... Oz seems to be good at those..

Ruslan Pidgornyy and Maxim Belkovsky to Vacansoleil.
I've seen more and more riders shaving their arms these days. I don't know why, really, I'm not tempted--the legs are already too much. It seems to come from Australia. All the Australians have shaved arms.--Matti Breschel, Oct. Cycle Sport
If that doesn't give them a Tour invite, I don't know what does

No Lampre-ISD for Pidgornyy?
I applaud it anyway, he’s good enough to ride anywhere.

van Poppel
Is 22 years old. Bit of a strange step for him but it could be a good move. Away from the stress of the Euro peloton/

Has JP still got a job there?
what with his wife due to sprog any day
He won a sprint in Cali a couple of years back
but I don’t remember seeing his name much since
I'm not saying they should take him.
I know virtually nothing about the kid, except that I think naming your boy Boy is stupid.
Don't be so Anglocentric

Eh?
I speak the same language as Boy Van Poppel. It’s not a “normal” Dutch name, and it doesn’t mean anything except for boy.
I was joking anyways

Won a stage in Tour of Missouri in 2008
But that’s the only result that springs to mind

Missouri, Cali, same difference
it’s all Britney country, isn’t it.
He's been riding cross
Now seems to go 100% for the road.

Tim Gudsell to leave FdJ
From his twitter
Though my head was far from in the race after the DS told me 15min before the start I don’t have a job for next year. Great motivator…
And Gudsell have had two horrible years
More injured than not.

Wouldn't he start to suspect he didn't have a contract for next year since it's mid-September and he didn't have a contract yet?

I don't know
There are obviously a lot of things going on that we don’t have a clue about. I found a post from late october 2008 on his blog, where he said that he had signed for a new year with FdJ.

A lot of the riders I want for next year's VDS are going to Rabobank
I didn’t have a single Rabobank rider this year. Now I want to pick like 5 of them.
