Hons does the GP Montreal
Here is the story of my adventures at the GP Montreal by photo
Started our day at the rider sign in. Others got there first.

This guy was with Team Katusha, fully kitted, but just watched the team go up for sign in. Anyone know who this is?

Chris Horner was quite sheepish when fans called his name. Pretty sure you can see him blushing.

These guys shot their rifles at the start. The entire Canadian army perhaps?

Pat stood and leaned on his car while everyone signed in. Then when they rode by ho would nod, wave or wink at pretty much every rider. Very creepy Godfatherish.

After the sign in I walked down the street where the caravan was lining up. Riders were lounging around and JV was philosophizing

"Hey Leeeenoos, who ya gonna kick today?"
"...you..."
(seriously, check out Leenoos' facial expression)

Here are the folks who bring the action straight into your living room or sunlight deprived internet cave (recognize anyone?).

AND THEY'RE OFF

After the start I went back to MY PATIO OVERLOOKING THE COURSE!!!!!!!!!!

I then climbed the Houde (the first climb) and found MathieuG...and his signs

When we got to the top of the climb I gave the camera to my fiance...

The helicopter was a great way to keep track of the race as it progressed around the circuit.

This is the feed zone center. I spoke to one of the BMC staff and they said that they were allowed to feed the riders from the 4th lap until 2 to go. So we stuck around and collected a Katusha and Liquigas bottle before heading on our way. The competition for the discarded bottles was fierce!!! One lucky fan got not only a Euskatel musette but a tasty looking sandwich as well.

After the feed zone we walked the rest of the course back to the start/finish. My favourite moment of the day was a couple minutes after the race went by, we heard a shrill scream behind us, and a 8 year old child went careening down the road on his bike with a grinning Popovich hot on his heels.
At the finish, we set up where we could see both one of the big screen tvs and a big strech of road coming into the finish area.

Gesink won btw. Sorry for the spoiler
Right after this picture was taken a guy near me (not me I swear!) started a RYDER! RYDER! chant (one of many). Ryder sheepishly waved.

Dom got swarmed as soon as he crossed the line

A happy Gesink leaving the podium

The "i get to hold all of Sagans shit" guy

My "Sólo hablo español" friend from Saturday won the king of the mountain competition.

I'm pretty sure they made up prizes to get Ryder back on stage. This was either "Top Canadian" or "most Agressive"

And here are your Montreal correspondents signing off

And that was the day the Protour came to town.

Nicely done!
So 8 years old kid was faster then Popo?
I used to be a big fan of the Racer Formerly Known as Bert! But then again, I used to believe in Santa ,Tooth Fairy and innocence of Floyd!
.
Wonderful...gives a real flavour of the event. Sounds like a super day!
That cute fluffy dog is watching very attentively. Clearly a fan.
Gora Euskaltel! Sorte on azenarioak!
So your fiancee, then

"Ants don’t worry, they operate like a fantastic team, they accept obstacles and deal with them in a positive manner, they don’t complain and remain positive. An ant doesn’t work on emotion, is proactive and always chooses the ant role."
Thanks!
The guy in Russian kit was not a rider on Katusha, I guess, but perhaps a sponsor/owner like Igor Makarov: http://www.katushateam.com/index.php?p=press-dettaglio&id=78 or might it even be Tinkoff? Does look a bit like him:
Looks to young! I think Tinkoff almost in his 50, No?

It was great to meet you on the start line in Montreal
Let’s do it again next year, and plan a get together at a bar (or something)!
Lyne, can you give a comparison of the races?
Crowds, rider opinions etc. Was the Montreal race the more prestigious one for instance?
Big Day Out!!

I’ve seen the budget …. I am sure there were no bullets to fire at the finish.
Enjoyed the story, and impressed with how you perfectly posed in the shape of the PdC logo! ;)
