A wee(!) scoop, possibly

A certain Jens! is quoted in a recent CN story as remaining mum about which team he had signed his contract with. I was able--completely inadvertently--to ferret out a more nuanced declaration of his team for next year.  Or, did I?

See, the SRM booth at Interbike was across an aisle from the Hed booth.  I'd been ranting about my plot to return all road riders to tubulars--and forcing Steve Hed to agree to make the Ardennes rim in a tubular version as part of this plot.  (deluded much, R Mc?), when I noticed that the line leading up to Mr. ! had diminished.  At first I wasn't going to ask him to sign anything.

Ever the keen journalist, I asked Voigt a question ("What's been the biggest change in pro cycling during your career?"  Great answer, but that's not the scoop.  Somewhere in the ensuing mini-conversation, I mentioned how cool his Madeleine performance was--and since I watched online, I could hear the jaws of announcers in 4 languages hit their desks.  He seemed impressed.  His response?  "We're hoping to do the same thing next year."

Now, it could be that there was en enormous photo of Andy Schleck behind him in the SRM booth that made me think he meant the "we" was Team Lux . . . but subsequently . . . Contador could have been part of that "we" too.

what thinks ye?

oohh

Follow the wrench. Particularly in that case, since he’s the guy who charges the hidden batteries.

Nothing hidden about Cance's batteries.

Lycra can barely contain them.

I think he rocks no matter where he lands...but I'm fast becoming a Team Lux fan (more for the supporting players then the Schlecks)...

So cool you got to meet Jens! I love watching him race and seriously hope he becomes a race commentator after he retires…he’s just too fun to listen to…

Never a doubt, well a fear did enter my mind in Cance's case with that contract.

But in my mind, the move by those guys to Team Lux was always going to happen. I agree on the mateship.

No way he was talking about “doing it again”, but for AC next time. Give me a break will ya.

Over-thinking a bit too much maybe?

Jens! probably already knows where he is going so he naturally says “we”. I assume it will be Team Lux.

Guess for some reason the riders can't say where.. haven't they passed the date when they can talk?

maybe sponsors want to announce?

Lux wants a big announcement to draw attention

I think Sky too.
One or two riders have mentioned actually having a contract clause that they are not allowed to divulge where they have signed before a certain date. I don’t know if this is common practice?

ahh ok.. was thinking that might be it..

Ooooh, please let it be one of those occasions

where they all dress up in giant foam burgers and hot-dogs.

I love when they do that.

Wee problem with we...

Is it possible Jens! is like royalty, using the plural of I to speak about himself? I think that theory is bunk because clearly Jens! was talking about himself and those legs he always needs to yell at to shut up.

Jens! says to danish TV that he will announce on Oct 1

I wonder if we get a big Lux announcement then? Riis was fond of making announcements at Worlds. The manager of Lux is Riis’s former press officer……

Speaking of Hed someday making (hopefully)

a tubular version of the Ardennes, I just discovered that Velocity has a new cross tubular rim called the Major Tom. It has a similar profile to the bombproof aerohead but it’s heavier (listed wieght 432g) and 23mm wide and tubular. it’s exactly what I was looking for to replace my Campy Barcelona I broke back in the early summer.

I ordered 2…
