Stage Predictor Game: Stage 10

The stage hobbles along a flat terrain, all is good and merry for the sprinters...until....the 4km Alto del Rat Penat comes along. Don't let the lenght fool you, it is 10% on average. It summits 30km from the line so likely a good climbing sprinter or punchy rider with a good finishing kick will win. Tomorrow(Monday) is a rest day.

What the Vuelta website says:

Tuesday 7th September it will be competed for the 10th stage of the Vuelta, a day´s journey with two very special dangers: on the one side, it takes place after a rest day – Monday 6th September – with all what this means in terms of hesitancy for the riders, since there are riders that don´t take any benefit from a relaxation day but just the opposite. And on the other side, the day´s journey includes in its final part a real spectacular ascension: the climb Lo Rat Penat.

This stage has 175 km and joints the cities of Tarragona and Vilanova i La Geltrú. And it won´t be an easy day at all, because a little more than 30 km before the finish line is located the already mentioned climb Lo Rat Penat, a short mountain pass, but which contains ramps of more than 23% fall and many stretches of more than 12%. The sprinters will have a very difficult work to do if they want to fight in order to be the winner in Vilanova I La Geltrú.

No no!

It’s perfect, that is the right profile, only it takes a right north-east where the Vuelta goes straight on (west, later north-west) to Plana Novella and Olivella. The alternative road is indicated with a left turn arrow on the profile you found. The Vuelta route summits about 100 m after that intersection.

It was an inspired choice

Roman was the strongest in the break. He could have won. I hope that he’s learning to believe in himself. He needs to find inspiration.

08 Andorra

there was no video of that day because of torrential rain. Ballan was in a break and solo’d his way to the win. Mosquera finished first from the GC guys right ahead of Bert if memory serves me correct.

That would be a kick ass PR team.

But, I really think you need to rethink that finish order.

A frozen 'cross ride from this last weekend. As you may be aware we have had siberian conditions here in the UK with a low of -14 degrees centigrade here on saturday morning. It was a beautiful sunny morning so i layered up and set off for a snowy 'cross ride along a roman road. I checked the thermometer when i got back to find it had been -10 throughout the ride! I had a lot of fun though and the views were spectacular.
