Too bad
Hoogie didn’t make the squad. Best man last year. And he doesn’t get to go to Lombardia too. It’s been a shitty season for him.

Yep
I promise never to put him on my VDS team again. I feel I owe him that much.

because Vacansoliel hasn't been invited anywhere
he was 11th in the Ronde the best from the Netherlands
analysis is speculation in disguise
That's part of the reason, but not everything.
Leukemans is selected for Belgium. He’s in the same team as Hoogerland.
Ok, looking at his results Crazy Johnny’s done a bit better than I though he did, but it still wasn’t awesome.
He did ok in Poland
Was on his way to a late-season peak. At least, that’s what I make of it from a fan’s perspective.

Well, it's not an awful team. But certainly not great either.
Boom appears to be in the best shape he’s been in all year… although we still don’t know if his legs won’t quit on him after 200 kms.
No real stars indeed
But it has quite some depth. All could play a role in the finale if they have a good/great day.

Odd talent pool in the Netherlands now
The team could just as easily be something like Gesink, Hoogerland, Tjallingi, Leezer, Maaskant, Mollema, Tankink, Posthuma and Kreder. Or maybe add in some Vacansoleil guys like Ruyigh, Westra or Traksel.
There wouldn’t be much of a change in quality or results.
In a couple of year
All teams will have a few Dutch veterans on the squad. They may never win a lot but they’ll make excellent road captains at least.

it says something
that they can tailor their national team to the course and not feel like they’re missing out. How many countries can say that they can build a competitive national team for any of the upcoming WCs?

But do you also see them actually winning any future WCs?
They have talent, I just don’t many consistent race winners.
