Earlier, on other threads, I posted a couple of graphs with some squiggly lines. I have two more of them so here they are all together, including a link to the complete data. Take the jump!
What these are, are graphs of cumulative moving averages of weekly scores. For every week, I summed all VDS points by rider, VDS team, UCI team and country. Of course, "points scored per week" varies quite a bit from week to week, especially for individual riders. The graph was a mess. So I calculated averages to smooth the data: each time the average weekly score from the start to that point. In the end, every line gravitates towards the overall average weekly score, the average for the whole VDS. With 34 weeks of VDS, that's just the total score divided by 34.

Click the graphs for original size (large!). Weeks start on a Monday. Week 1 is the first week of the year with more than 3 days. Week 8, the first week of the 2011 VDS, is from Monday 21 February to Sunday 27 February (including Omloop, Kuurne and a couple of other races). Week 41, the last week including Lombardia, is from Monday 10 October to Sunday 16 October. Finishes of Giro, Tour and Vuelta were in weeks 21, 29 and 36.
Finally, the graphs are only of top tens. Download the complete data for all riders, teams, etc., via this bare minimum page. Open the CSV files (Comma Separated Values) with a spreadsheet program, make your own graphs and share them in the comments. Starting ... Now!
