I voted for Italian National Team

because I nominated them! But I want to vote for NB too for that reason, and because they seem to have so much fun on the bikes!

Aka Pigeons!

by Sarah Connolly on Oct 31, 2011 4:22 AM EDT up reply actions

For me, too

…and for the same reason. Rather than just pointing Vos at the finish line and waiting for the prizes to come flowing in, they promote and develop their other riders too and give them all ample opportunity to shine.

Hard choice, though. I’d have also liked to have voted for HTC for being such a fantastically strong team and giving a great home to some of my favourite riders; Colavita for much the same reason and – well, all the rest for giving us fans such superb racing to watch.

Nederland Bloeit for me too, that is!

by John Cyclopunk on Oct 31, 2011 5:53 AM EDT up reply actions

Colavita deserve a certain credit

for finding so many loopholes in the regulations. According to CQ Ranking they managed to get 19 riders registered plus race another five outside that. Possibly more if there are races that CQ don’t record.

So, are the polls dependent on a cookie being dropped to remember if you've already voted?

It just looks like someone is gaming the system.

My first 27 votes went to Hitec

Norwegians are always up to no-good

They have discovered the secret bug in the system which allows you to vote 17 times in every poll if you pour a mixture of lapskaus and fish-oil in the disc-drive of your computer.

by Jens on Oct 31, 2011 7:09 AM EDT up reply actions

Fish oil you say

would it work if the oil was still attached to the fish?

by Monty. on Oct 31, 2011 7:18 AM EDT up reply actions

Nah, deleting cookies didnt help

Could only vote once :-) Just realised it read ‘best team’ and not ‘the one you like best’ but too late :-)

by KarlN on Oct 31, 2011 6:47 AM EDT reply actions

as team i have too vote for Htc tey wone all the team tt.

by Ratgers on Oct 31, 2011 7:51 AM EDT reply actions

HTC for me

As a team they are the best. They also have the most riders scoring points.
NedBloeit = Marianne Vos + Annemiek v Vleuten
Team Hitec = Emma Johanson
where Team HTC = Judith Arndt + Ina Teutenberg + Amber Neben + Ellen v Dijk + Charlotte Becker + Adrie Visser + Chloe Hosking + etc.
In CyclingFever’s ranking 2011 (see here) they have 6 riders in the top-25 and in CQ ranking these six are all in top-17 (see here).
So as a team HTC dominates the 2011 season.

by FrankV on Oct 31, 2011 8:56 AM EDT reply actions

Agreed

And they wone all the TT for teams:)
But have too say even riders like Mariane Vos, Anemiek van Vleuten and Emma Johansen need good teammate’s too help them in those postions too battel for victory’s. Anemiek van Vleuten took advantage of the fackt tat none woud bring back Mariane Vos too get her.

by Ratgers on Oct 31, 2011 9:46 AM EDT up reply actions

Totally

HTC are a superb team and Arndt and Teutenberg are two of my all-time favourite riders. I also really like Horizon…

So in the end, I based it on jersey design. And I always did like that shade of green on NB’s.

I like the depth of HTC

(among other things, of course)

"Ants don’t worry, they operate like a fantastic team, they accept obstacles and deal with them in a positive manner, they don’t complain and remain positive. An ant doesn’t work on emotion, is proactive and always chooses the ant role."

So after Stage 1 (the first 24 hours)

There have been 387 kilometres votes and Hitec are still up the road in their solo breakaway.

This is thanks, in part, to team manager Karl Lima’s clever tactics, alerting his team fans to the race vote, and making sure that not only was there an early surge (using this kind of tactic) but that there were enough resources to steadily increase that lead.

Behind Hitec, the race is divided into chase groups. For most of the stage day, Nederland Bloeit and HTC-Highroad were neck-and-neck, but then as the USA woke up in the afternoon, HTC gained an advantage.

In the race for fourth, Horizon Fitness have been attempting to use similar tactics to Hitec, but so far they haven’t been successful, and haven’t been able to shake off Garmin-Cervélo. Is this a problem with the team tactics, or are they taking it slow-and-steady, ready for a final surge at the end of the week?

And finally, Colavita and the Italian National Team are sitting at the back – but they should be happy that just getting the nominations is impressive enough….. and there are 4 more stages days of voting to go….

Voting after of Stage 1

Hitec Products-UCK – 189 votes (48%)
HTC-Highroad – 74 votes (19%)
Nederland Bloeit – 64 votes (16%)
Horizon Fitness-Prendas Ciclismo – 25 votes (6%)
Garmin-Cervélo – 24 votes (6%)
Colavita-Forno d’Asolo – 6 votes (1%)
Italian National Team – 5 votes (1%)

Aka Pigeons!

by Sarah Connolly on Nov 1, 2011 4:15 AM EDT reply actions

Ha! Well you certainly can't fault Hitec's desire to win.

If they keep this trend up it could result in being the poll with the most votes recorded ever.

I am still wondering if the likes of Marianne Vos or Annemiek van Vleuten will tweet the poll

and send a huge surge in votes? Or whether no one can catch Hitec? There are still 4 days of voting left….

they know this is the most important race of the year.

The official Garvélo twitter linked to this post

Let’s see if they can play catch up!

by tgsgirl on Nov 1, 2011 3:34 PM EDT reply actions

Yes indeed, they've pulled away from Horizon, but can they catch Nederland Bloeit?

And will Karl Lima respond, or is Hitec too far ahead for them to worry?

Aka Pigeons!

Stage 2 report!

Garvélo demonstrated the power of the tweet – by tweeting about the pool, they’ve pulled well away from Horizon Fitness, and look like they might even catch Nederland Bloeit. But nothing can stop Hitec – with team manager Karl Lima once again doing his best to get the stage off to a strong start!

So with 3 more days of voting, what will happen? We’ve seen the power of a well-placed tweet – there’s still time for Hitec to be overtaken, but only if the other teams take decisive action!

Voting after Stage 2

Hitec Products-UCK – 235 votes (46%)
HTC-Highroad – 90 votes (17%)
Nederland Bloeit – 75 votes (14%)
Garmin-Cervélo – 64 votes (12%)
Horizon Fitness-Prendas Ciclismo – 26 votes (5%)
Colavita-Forno d’Asolo – 7 votes (1%)
Italian National Team – 5 votes (0%)
