Industry Buzz: Raleigh to Stage 2013 Bike Unveiling at DealerCamp
Attention dealers -- Raleigh has your sales offerings and travel budget in mind for 2013. Rather than hauling everyone to their regional HQ in Seattle for the launch of their American bike lines, Raleigh is coming to you for their next big rollout! Not being a dealer I am unfamiliar with the history of BikeDealerCamp, but for at least a couple years now dealers have gathered in Deer Valley, Utah in July for the kind of industry confab most desk jockeys dream about: hanging out in the mountains, chatting leisurely with folks in person whom you usually only deal with on the phone, and riding newly-minted bikes in a truly spectacular setting, including a cyclocross race.
So yeah, good place to check out Raleigh's next line of bikes:
At DealerCamp, retailers will have the chance to meet with Raleigh product and marketing team as well as sales representatives to test ride and discuss new bikes before committing to yearly orders. What’s more, DealerCamp will host Raleigh’s second annual Midsummer Night’s Cyclocross Classic, which promises racers prestigious prize packages and new team positions that are up for grabs in 2012.
“The Deer Valley venue is spectacular, and the timing really works to effectively launch our bicycles to a wide range of dealers and the cycling industry as a whole,” said Raleigh VP of Product & Marketing, Chris Speyer. We will have a preview event for our top dealers two days prior to the start of DealerCamp, and the bikes will be showcased for public viewing throughout the rest of the show."
Sounds like a good substitute for a trek to Seattle (which is already packed with cruise ship tourists in July anyway). DealerCamp 2012 is scheduled for July 24-26.

Somehow I knew you weren't refering to Raleigh, NC
… but I got my hopes up anyway.
"...my reverse cyclelogy has paid off." -ant1
Raleigh's had some
purdy bikes, lately.
It’s not the Raleigh I grew up with, but still, got a soft spot for ’em.
my cousin had a sweet raleigh bmx in france back in the day
complete with blood stained foam pad on the bars. good times.

Sorry, but Raleigh's technically a zombie-brand.
a bit better than Motobecane, not as good as Masi, and about on a level with Fuji.
i think it's when someone buys the name
of a brand that has stopped production, and labels new bikes as such, like in the case of motobecane. guy bought the name, and brands frames he has built overseas with it. the name is the only thing the current bikes have in common with the original french company.

You mean any brand . . .
. . . that was purchased by another company/person and now makes product that is not very much related to the products they made in the past?
Again, I am actually interested in this OT thread.
What would Deming do? (+8:00 GMT)
i think the brand has to go away/die somehow
and then be resurrected. sales under the brand name cannot be continuous. but that’s just my interpretation of it.

So for example . . .
Raliegh is a Zombie brand.
Schwinn is not?
Then, what about a brand like IBIS?
They totally died, and now are back and maybe better then they ever was.
What would Deming do? (+8:00 GMT)
i would guess
you’re right on the first too. don’t know enough about ibis. i remember when the mojo came out several years ago. was that the rebirth? i’d say if they were gone for more than a year or two and restarted by someone who bought just the name, they’re zombie.
